Players in this draft Vs. Last year

Of the players in this years draft, who would have been high picks last year?

Honestly I think Stafford and Crabtree are the only two who could have been.

If you were to throw all this year's players into last year's draft, I think this is how it goes:
MIA: J. Smith
STL: Monroe(I think if STL picks 1st they still take Monroe)
ATL: Ryan
OAK: C. Long
KC: J. Long
NYJ: Stafford
NO: Dorsey
CIN: Orakpo
NE: E. Brown

Except that many of those centers would be very good guards as well.

Guard is a position that a top 50 choice rarely warrants. Those guys can be found well past the third round.

Maybe it's just me but Brian Orakpo does not belong that high...and if we're going on just draft status there's no way he gets picked ahead of Gholston.

What I find interesting is that there were some who felt that Clint Sintim was every bit the player that Chris Long was last year and some thought that he was even better, but nobody seems to be talking about Sintim, a guy who led all linebackers in sacks last year.

Regardless of my insane hyperbole on the draft here of late, I'm hoping that the Chiefs trade down out of the #3 spot and give themselves a legit shot at Sintim, who is, IMHO, the best pure ROLB in this draft and has a chance to be a very good player for a long time in the pros. If we could get Sintim and a couple extra picks, I'd be ecstatic.

It's because Sintim ran a blah 40 and is a 3-4 player and nothing else so he isn't going to be rated as high as guys who can play in both schemes.

Depends what kind of end you draft...Allen honestly was surprising. Some guys like Hali for example was a near finished product so he was expected to be decent out of the gate his issue is the lack of top upside which has become apparent now.

That's different than drafting guys like Mario Williams or Osi Umeyiora who are freaks that need a bit of time to learn their position.

It's generally a position where guys aren't awesome right away...it's not LB or RB which are easy positions to step into.

You showed me, you're such a badass.

See post #24, that's what I was talking about.

But yes, DT's never do anything, and in the same vein rookie DE's rarely do much either.
