The Falcons are reportedly interested in trading for Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez.
The National Football Post's Michael Lombardi says the Falcons are "seriously considering" the option, with their second-round pick as bait. Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt is attached to his franchise icon, but he might be convinced to part ways as the team rebuilds.

Atlanta has the 55th pick in the second. Maybe Jarron Gilbert or Paul Kruger although I'd rather see Tony stick it out here.

I just don't personally see Tony Gonzalez as a leader. He's a great player and does and all that but I don't see him as a big vocal team guy that is a leader. I've never seen him that way he doesn't strike me that way with his personality either.

Being a great player HOF caliber player does not mean you are a team leader it just means you're a great player. They aren't the same thing.

Tony's the greatest TE ever! Bar none. He's the most consistent of anybody on our team for years. But just curious, how many years...offseasons have we heard the same junk from him. I don't think he's a bad guy. But he hasn't wanted to be here for years it seems to me. People wearing his jerseys in the stadius, applauding him continually, bragging about him continually. He's got the Ring Chaser syndrome. Trade him. Get a young gun out of him. whatever.

Yeah, Tony can go..I mean, maybe a guy like Robiskie will be there at 55, I know he's not a burner but he's a pretty solid WR.

So we could grab another WR, and we have Cottam waiting in the wings to take Tony's spot. It wouldn't kill me to see him go, and I'm as big of a Tony fan as anyone.
