I've heard all sorts of stupid stuff, like, if you ran out and bought a CD the day he died and saved the receipt you could get hundreds for it. Only a friggin' idiot would pay more than face value for a new CD. Something autographed or limited, sure, it just went up in value, but that's about it.

As for the will... what will? Didn't the dude have, like, no money left? Hence the reason he had to sell Neverland, and was planning on going on tour, to pay off his debts? The other Jacksons probably had more money than him at this point...

I think I read somewhere in past week or so that he was over $400 mill. in debt when he died. I don't know how all that will shake down but I also remember several years ago he bought up all the rights to some old beatles stuff that was worth a butt-load of cash. I'm thinking that many of his debt's may be cancelled because of his death but his royalties will keep pouring in. No doubt someone will make loads of cash from this.

Yeah, I read the same thing about the $400M in debt... royalties alone will get the estate out of debt in due time.

The amount of money people will pay for collectible merchandise is astounding.

A friend of mine deals in this stuff - he has a great deal of authentic Hollywood items, including numerous costumes used in several of the newer Star Trek series (yes, Claythan would wet himself if he saw it). Each one is worth thousands of dollars, and that crap is for the most part bad economy proof, because the kind of people who'll pay thousands of dollars for Wil Riker's uniform aren't likely concerned with working for a living in the first place.

That's not how it works. User "3" when bidding listed a maximum bit @ 10k. User "N" tried multiple bids until finally beating the max bid User "3" initially put @ 10k.

Look at the time stamps on each bid.

I read something today about him having 200 unpublished songs that he left his children so that they would be set for life. Apparently he knew what he was doing all along. I wonder exactly how much money he burned through in his lifetime.

Our ebay store has sold several MJ items and we jacked the prices up about 3-5x the original prices that we were originally selling them for. Made about $600 profit so far. It's pretty crazy how fast it hit ebay. I got on and bought a bunch of shit for the low before some sellers could react. I really liked MJ and did shed a tear so I feel a bit sleazy about this. There has never been a single individual in the world that had the fame he achieved at his prime. I was really dissapointed to read that he wouldn't even of been able to perform in the shape he was in. I go to a lot of concerts and travel around the country to catch certain acts (not dave or phish or any of that shit =D) I was hoping to at least catch one of his performances before this happened.
