Exactly. Fans do care. The guy could have put out 30 seconds as a minimal effort at PR for the league that pays his salary. It's a national broadcast, for fuck's sake. Nobody asked him to donate a fucking kidney. And how about a little civility for someone trying to do their job. It's pretty basic really.
