if a team scores on a single run play, then they by definition were successful running the ball that game....stats are irrelevant

so next time journalist or a poster says, "we held them to 3 yards a carry and only 70 yards..we stopped the run"....you tell them they are wrong, because any score invalidates it....


lots of people have made this mistake over the years....like everyone, in fact...because it never occurred to them to think of such a stupid excuse....

No. This only works half the time.

See, if they would have run for 150 yards today, but we would have held them out of the end zone, we would have been gashed, and there would have been some kind of playcalling reason for why they didn't score. Certainly not because we stopped them. I honestly believe in order for people to be happy with the unit, we must hold the other team under 100 yards and shut them out. Because holding them to 170 total yards and 13 points certainly is inexcusable.
