I don't think that's fair or true. Pioli did resurge the team from a bottom-feeder to a very competitive playoff team with Bledsoe at the helm. And people forget that for 1-2 seasons, the Pats babied Brady with a very simple, game manager type of role. The first Super Bowl was won with defense, not offense. Brady was good enough to finish games when they needed him most, but for the most part, it was his supporting cast that set the table for him.

I will agree that over time, the team's ability to sustain success is largely due to Brady. They haven't been nearly as good in their drafting now as they were before Brady.
