How do people know that Charles can't withstand the pounding and will get hurt? Charles carried the ball 258 times in his Junior season at Texas. He is now returning kicks, which is one of the easiest ways to get hurt in the NFL. Let's not see what one of KC's biggest threats can do because he won't hold up or get injured?

Charles is playing near the same weight that Priest Holmes was playing at. I just don't get this, "play Charles as a third down back" BS because he "may" get hurt. Who cares? What do we have to lose?

I've said it once in this thread, and I'll say it again. LJ does nothing better than Charles does. But...Charles has more speed, more elusiveness, better vision and catches the ball better. Give him the damn rock! Or we can just declare him a third down back for the rest of his career just because....

It still sucks that Green Bay offered us a 1st round pick back in 07 for LJ.

Charles is nowhere close to Priest. Not even close. The only thing Charles is far more superior than Priest was is their straight line speed. But that's it. Charles can't catch very well, drops the easy ones, and when he gets hit, he's done.

He's Greg Hill II. You haven't forgotten his fumbling problems, do you? Remember the opening KO against the Giants game?

I'm pretty sure he was referring to Charles lbs compared to Priest and therefore could take the pounding... Not comparing skills.

Nobody is saying he is or ever will be as good as Priest was....

Anyways, I think Priest played at around 213 and Charles is listed at 200 even. If you want a comparison body type wise, look at Chris Johnson. They are practically identical body build wise. But Chris Johnson splits carries so they don't worry about him getting injured.

The same could be with Charles.

This. He runs stiff and upright. When he changes direction if appears very awkward.

Definately doesn't appear to be anything special.

First paragraph = acknowledged.

As for comparing to Chris Johnson, eh, I don't think so. He runs upright, and when he tries to change directions or move to a different direction, he doesn't do it "naturally" as you should. Just seemed he does it in a "akward" way.

I'm sorry, but Charles isn't exactly special in my book. I won't shed a tear if he was also let go.

Yeah I just just want to make it clear that I think Charles can't hold a candle to Chris Johnson.

My point was mainly to the people saying he shouldn't get a look as the starter because he'd get injured. And my point was that he's the same size as other guys in the league who can handle it because they share carries.

I'm only interested in seeing someone else (my vote is Charles) start this season at HB instead of Larry because he's done. I mean things are going bad so might as well try something different.

If come offseason they draft in the mid to late rounds (I'm normally not a fan of drafting RBs high) someone they want to feature, fine with me.

At this point, it wouldn't hurt to give Charles an 11 game audition to see if he can get the feel and not look akward. If not, then RB needs to be added to the already long list of needs on draft day next Spring.

**** the comparisons to priest, or Chris Johnson, or to Greg Hill.

Let's compare him to LJ.

Is his level of suckage comparable to LJ's or does he potentially suck less.

That's the only comparison that matters.

In my book, he hasn't yet shown that he sucks as much.

I honestly dont think the Chiefs have any "special" RB's on their roster currently.

LJ happens to make a boatload of money and he made a few plays in the past so he starts by default for now.

We don't need special. We just need someone who can average over 2.3 yards per carry (LJ's average after today for the year).

Couldn't be that hard to top that.

Why is it LJ's fault?

Anyone of us would just as frustrated as LJ if we had to try to run behind a line that can't run block or pass block. He has defensive linemen in his face as soon as he gets the handoff. This O-line has some serious problems they need to get fixed. I'm not sure if it's possible this year, but LJ or Cassel will be on IR soon if they don't... There isn't a running back in the NFL that could do any better than LJ is right now.
