****Official Weight Loss and Exercise Thread****

I know that TinyE has the CP Weight Loss Challenge thread, but this is a new beginning for me. No losing weight for prizes, as that motivation ended on July 1st. This time I'm doing it for me. My goal is 75 lbs. Slow and steady wins the race. This time, the prize will be a whole new me.

Anyone else still battling the bulge? Here, hopefully, you can find more encouragement and tips on diet and exercise. Feel free to talk about discouragements, setbacks, frustrations, etc as well. We're here to help...at least I am.

I love it. I think it's the texture that really does it for me; aside from the good tastes of both food items.

Another good one is rice and peaches, with a generous portion of peach syrup. That one's a little more odd, but still good. Not nearly as good for you as the lowfat cottage cheese and pineapple, unless you're using no sugar added peach syrup.

That seems rather odd, but perhaps worth a try. It seems like a hassle to cook the rice, though.

Dannon used to have some packages that contained cottage cheese and then a little separate compartment with one of three fruity things: pineapple, strawberry, and (I think) raspberry. They were great for snacks, but I think they stopped making them. At least my store no longer has them.

It's worth a try..and I'd recommend the steam-in microwave bags for quick, easy rice.

I've had that for lunch twice this week, and dinner once. Still have fresh pineapple.

Well done, dude. Now the trick is to keep it off during the winter months.

I'm down nearly 60, but I still have some work to do. Plus, I'm one of those guys that carries ALL the extra weight right around the gut, so that complicates the clothes fitting "properly".

Just remember that we didn't get out of shape in a short amount of time, and reversing it will take a little while.

Chin up..... The good news is that you can make progress losing weight faster than you put the weight on.

Just keep making more correct choices than poor ones and you will make progress.

I'm down 25 pounds since Summer ended. I'm 33, 5'9" and have gone from 183 to 158. I work fulltime and have a traditional 12 hour school schedule so I rarely have time to workout. I'd like to flux between 150 and 155. My diet consists of:

Breakfast cookie - oatmeal, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, cranberries, applesauce or baby food, Fiber One cereal (makes fart noise with mouth), maybe some nuts if I have some.

Piece of fruit for a mid morning snack - I buy whatever is on sale, apples, oranges, bananas, pears, etc.

Lunch is a salad I bring to work - Lettuce, spinach, turkey or chicken from the deli counter, almonds, dried berries, and lite dressing. Piece of fruit and/or Jello.

Piece of fruit for afternoon snack.

Dinner is baked chicken, turkey, or marinated beef with some sort of veg, again whatever is on sale, green beans, broccoli, asparagus, etc..

I'm sure there is a better more efficient diet to lose weight, but this is a marathon and not a sprint for me. I drink water all day and change it up with some Crystal Light drink mix in the evening. The biggest adjustment for me was binge drinking as I love the booze, but I'll pound a few Mickey's tallboys at a metal show or a few cocktails when out with the ol lady every now and again but certainly keep it to moderation. I'll treat myself to some KC BBQ every now and again because I owe it to my geography and maybe an Anthony Joe's Select Chicago Style pizza from Tarantino's, but that's about it.

I completely agree. It is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to take some time to enjoy food too.
