2009 Denver Broncos....the WORST 5-0 team in NFL history?

Ok...so they're probably not the worst in history, but I'd call them the worst undefeated team left this season. There are a lot of 1 loss teams I'd take over them. They have 2 legit wins against horrible opponents and their other 3 are come from behind luck-outs. This is just my opinion, but I doubt I'm in the minority.

And, while they should not have lost that game vs OAK... they did. There are 2 games left. I think they'll still advance... if they do, then I was correct.

You want to discount the tip pass and return scores - but, you can't. Those are part of the game. And, I agree that if they advance... they'll have a monumental challenge of winning on the road with the way they've been playing.

I think they still beat KC and they have a good shot of beating PHI. Anything can happen.

Still missing the point. Those lucky bounces covered up a lot of holes in that team because their margin for error in a win is so small. So things like punt returns for TD's and fluke tipped passes do matter. Generally the teams that are legit good will catch a break here and there, but play at a high level consistently for most of the year. Denver is not one of those teams. So yeah, the ARE the same team as last year. And you said they were gone.

They should beat KC, but PHI, not so much. One W one L in the next two games, bank on it.

Sorry, but you don't get to 6-0 on just a bunch of luck bounces and moments in games. They played well in that stretch, lost some bad games during their 0-4 stretch... and have gone on 2 game wins and 2 game losses since. They're not an elite team, I never said they were.

They're in a similar situation as last year, but the team is different - it's a better all around team. I figured they would have played like this earlier in the season than later... but, it didn't happen that way.

Very well could turn out that way... depends on which team shows up @ Philly. Will it be the team that dominated the Giants and defeated the likes of the Patriots, Chargers and Cowboys? If it's the team that played yesterday, they're in for a long day.

That's the thing though with teams like Denver... they don't play with consistency week to week, so anything can happen.

Who knew the Panthers would destroy the Vikings? Nothing is a given.

Well somewhere on this thread I said that they would not make the playoffs when they were 5-0. Got chastized by a few Orange and Blue lovers when they were 6-0, but said it again then too. Well...

I just saw the highlights of that final OAK drive... dunno if I agree with the PI call, but I didn't see it replayed over and over. They brought the pressure, they just didn't get the job done.

No it's not better. If it were better then the record wouldn't be looking similar, and you wouldn't have lost a 3 game division lead. A "better" team doesn't repeat the same **** ups as last years team. Understand?

I'd say yes for that 95 season, very much so. The 97 season? Nope. That team played unreal defense. The 03 Chiefs? Nope. Scored points like they were going out of style.

either way, it's a silly comparison because the aren't going to sniff 13-3 are they?

Ohhh, ok. Losing a 3 game divisional lead after 6 weeks is a bit different than losing one after 13 weeks as they did last year. Denver was 8-8 last year and definitely screwed up huge by losing 3 down the stretch.

This Denver team is different and if you can't see that, it's no big deal to me. The results could be the same, but it doesn't mean the teams are the same.

I'm still less than impressed with McD's ability to put together a game plan that utilizes all their weapons.... some will put it all on Orton and that's fine, I don't think it's all on him at all. The defense put on a run last week vs Indy that gave them a chance to take advantage and I just didn't see the creativity.

Again, I wasn't able to watch the game yesterday, so I don't know how the offense looked... but, they settled for way too many FGs. That part is similar to last year.

We'll see how the next two games go.

Correct, 13 wins is not an option. But, how many points were put up by Hall? I guess that KC really should have won yesterday, I mean 203 yards on two returns for TDs? That shouldn't count... KC was just so unlucky.

For eveyone posting on this thread....right now would you rather have Todd Haley or Josh McDaniels as your head coach?

The only things separating the Chiefs and Broncos are 5 more wins for the Broncos and that the Broncos have won as many games at Arrowhead as the Chiefs this season.

FYI...both teams lost at home to the Raiders. Don't act too proud Chiefs fans.

And yes I am a Chiefs fan.

But they still have a chance to go farther in the playoffs then anyone of the 13-3 Chiefs teams.

Nah. They will choke like crack whores in the back seat no matter who they play in the playoffs. If they get there.Philly will smash them by 30 points.
