Shouldn't be. He is guaranteed 28 million. If we wouldn't have signed him to the extention, he would have made about 14 million this year anyway. 14 more next season, and he is expendable. Keep him one more year to take the beating while the O-line comes together some more, then move on.

Sure, but you can't argue the fact that picking up DJ at #12 was widely regarded as great value for a position we needed...he just didn't pan out.

And yeah, that period was a total cluster**** and we have DV and CP to thank for that. Crybaby Grandpa ****ed this franchise harder than Herm ever could have hoped to.

oh yeah, I agree. Just saying, that will be the excuse all the 'experts' in KC use for not taking a QB - if that QB is the guy to tak etc.

I guess that's why you should draft with foresight and not for win now type of moves..

If we take Rodgers instead of Johnson and make a few other picks for the best player instead of trying to win right now with an aging team that was never going to be good enough we sit in a much different spot today.

They know our base, fans don't like moves that aren't win now either. If we had taken Rodgers people would have melted down, hell taking any offensive player in that period would have caused meltdown.

I remember suggesting we should draft Santonio Holmes and people flipping the **** out.

yep. knew it very well.
now begins the 'de-conditioning' (if that's a word) of the fan base to do something different and demand a superbowl.

didn't DV say the 'main thing is the main thing'?
people (fans, talk radio hosts etc) almost dismiss this with a 'yeah, but'.... attitude.
No, soren.... the goal is to win a fuckign Super bowl. Period. not go 4-2 in the division and be 'in it' etc.
when people bring up that the SB is the main thing, they're almost shocked that one would even suggest it.

Just being in it is enough for this fan base, it's all about being safe.

yep.
they want to attach themselves/be associated with a good guy (Waters, TG, Richardson, etc); and to suggest that the team won't win with such players is blasephemy in their minds.

Judging by the last couple of weeks KC is going to have to buckle down and play hard if they expect to come out of Denver with a loss next week.

I never really cared if we drafted O or D. But we must find a way to stop having to say " well this one just didnt work out" . How do we seem to always have incompatent players and coaches? When we do find decent players we trade them away. Chiefs have been a poorly ran business for too many years now
