Just keep reading the title of this thread until it ****ing sinks in.

And I'm not even a Cassel fan, but he's going to be given more than 1 season to show he is or is not the guy.

I know all the bullshit arguments that will come forth.

"He's not a rookie, he's a seasoned vet" blah blah ****ing blah. I don't give a shit. I'm talking about reality. They gave him 60 mil. Even if Cassel never improves on this season (which I actually think he will, even if I'm not a fan), GM's don't admit to failures that quickly. Pioli will give him every chance to prove that he's right. He drafted him, he signed him to a 60 million dollar contract. Those of you you think that Pioli is going to turn right around and draft a QB with our first pick are ****ing morons. Yes, you are. It's ENTIRELY out of the question so please stop wasting discussion time with it.

Translated that means they wanted to find another QB, which is the reason they drafted one.

The only thing that would have made those decisons better is if the Chiefs had a young QB to develop behind them.

I will agree with you we paid too much for Green but the Rams knew we desperately needed a QB and knew Carl had Dick up Carl's ass to get him and new they could get a first.

I think you're missing what I am saying. If Brees just had a few problems then I'd suspect that AJ Smith would have been smart enough to stick it out with him.

But he wasn't AJ's pick (Cassel is Pioli's pick)

Brees had looked like shit up to that point (Cassel did not look like shit last year)

And this is exactly why we're not taking a QB with our first pick.

All of the rest of the conversation I don't care about, we aren't taking a QB with our first pick in the draft, or either of our 2nds. Pioli is going to give Cassel more than 1 season to sink or swim.

And trading a first for Trent Green paid off.

AJ Smith was John Butler's right hand man in both Buffalo and San Diego, so I imagine the Brees was his guy to some extent.

Actually, the Chargers had a pretty pathetic O-Line for teh first couple of seasons that Brees was there, and it really wasn't all that good until the Chargers drafted Marcus McNeill in '06.

I noted the drop in them once Cassel got some game experience and Neal returned to the lineup. Your response was just to continue attacking the QB instead of looking at the problem with your statement.

Yes, the quarterback needs to play better. However, whether you like it or not, the problems with K.C. offense this year mostly revolved around poor offensive line play, a revolving group of receivers who dropped more balls than, perhaps, any other group of receivers in NFL history, and a running game that was terrible for a good part of the season.

But you are ignoring the fact that some of those problems are magnified by poor QB play.

I've said it before.

I htink that Cassel has the tools to be a solid game manager, but the fact remains that he isn't a top tier QB, and his poor pocket presense, wobbly passes and inaccuracy have as much to do with his problems, and the reciever's drops, as it does with the rest of the cast.

He'll improve as the cast improves, but he's never going to be a franchise QB.

Defending Cassel from those sorts of statements is not the same as claiming that he never makes a mistake, is in the same class with Brady and Manning, or anything of that nature.

The Chiefs led the league in dropped passes last year?

Oh, that's right, they didn't.

Bowe had 13, and every other player on the team had 4 or less.

With Tyler Thigpen and Damon Huard delivering the ball.

This year, we have 4 players with 6 or more, and Bowe missed four games, and Wade/Chambers weren't even on the roster the entire year.
