Which movie quote is more famous?

In an intense game of Pass the Popcorn movie trivia, my wife and I got into a heated argument about which movie quote is more famous.

(A) "Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me." -- The Graudate

or

(B) "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." -- Gone With the Wind.

Discuss.

"WE'RE ON A MISSION FROM GOD!"

I couldn't find that on the list, and if it's not on there, the list is total shit and not at all worth reading.

Anyone else think that 99 (especially) and 100 (not that it's my favorite movie or anything) on that list were really much lower than they probably should be?

Yeah... I didn't even know that first one and I watch a lot of movies.

The second is borderline Iconic.

Here are some more awesome polls:

What tastes better, a rib eye or a sandwich made of bile and human feces?
Which hurts more, stubbing your toe or being burned alive?
Which liquor is stronger, near beer or Bacardi 151?

I have weird, inexplicable gaps in my movie watching that my friends love to note. Often when a movie line is used, the next question is "have you seen that movie", as it's up in teh air.

And Blues Brothers falls right into the gap.

I'm your Huckleberry, however, is from one of my favorite movies, so that I've got covered.

I wouldn't say "Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me," even if a woman named Mrs. Robinson was trying to seduce me.

Meanwhile, separate question -- anyone else think Citizen Kane is generally overrated and boring? While giving merit to its various technical achievements, I just don't see it as a timeless classic, an awesome film. I've seen it once, and have no wish whatsoever to see it again.

OTOH, I could watch Casablanca a million times, or really just about anything with Bogey. Godfather. Most of the rest of the traditional "top 10" list is fine with me. But Citizen Kane just bored the heck out of me.

It's all part of the quirkiness of Hoffman's character. You [all of you who haven't] really should give the film a chance. It's an integral part of America's cinematic awakening.

I've only seen it once. While I did like it, I agree, it's not even in the same area code as Casablanca.

It's kind of like the gull-wing Mercedes, or whatever that car was by that guy who made a car with all sorts of innovations back in the 40s and they made a movie about him. "____ the man and his car."

In retrospect, the films it inspired have eclipsed many of it's accomplishments, but it pack so many innovations, not just technical, but in storytelling form, that it deserves admiration even now.

It opened that very idea of what a film could be wide open.

I mean literally having people saying
You can do that with; [lighting, film stock, audio, dialog, exposition, superimposition, plotting, theme establishment, reveals, etc., etc.]?

Any many of those innovations just roll off our backs nowadays as they've become part of the stock and trade, so their impact at the time is tempered.

Right. Exactly. I mean, I don't wnat to overstate things. I didn't HATE it. It didn't suck. But to put it in there with Godfather, Casablanca, etc. just doesn't work for me.

Here's AFI top 10:

1. Citizen Kane
2. Casablanca
3. Godfather
4. Raging Bull
5. Singin' in the Rain
6. Gone with the Wind
7. Lawrence of Arabia
8. Schindler's List
9. Vertigo
10. Wizard of Oz

Now I've seen all of them except Raging Bull (one of those gaps I mentioned), and while I'd certainly shuffle some and maybe put others ahead of them, etc., I at least GET why they're there. I really just don't even GET Citizen Kane. Whatever it is the experts see -- I just don't. I'd put all 8 that I've seen on that top 10 list ahead of it, along with a whole helluva lot of other movies too.

No. No I don't agree with that.

Although Casablanca is better, Citizen Kane is pretty good.
