THAT'S WHY HE WAS FIRED! He tried to take control of personnel from AJ Smith and went directly to the Spanos family.

They chose AJ.

End of story.

Seriously, do you just make this $hit up? Are you drunk? High?

I can't believe anyone would think that a seasoned coach like Marty didn't have input on the drafts. Why don't you call him on his radio show and ask him. You'll find out that you're WRONG. Completely WRONG. Marty had plenty of input on the drafts.

Yeah, Marty had a bad relationship with AJ, but it wasn't about Marty trying to take control of personnel. You have your facts WRONG...AGAIN. It was more about Marty's staff (or loss of) & the hiring of his brother. Here's some credible info for you:

"Our fans deserve to know what changed for me over the last month. When I decided to move ahead with Marty Schottenheimer in mid-January, I did so with the expectation that the core of his fine coaching staff would remain intact." ~ Dean Spanos

NOTHING that you posted disputes the fact that Marty wanted to take control of personnel.

NOTHING.

Furthermore, Marty wasn't hired by AJ Smith. He was hired by John Butler, who died. AJ was promoted and didn't like or get along with Marty.

You need to shut the **** up.

Oh and BTW, **** YOU.

Do you live in SoCal? Did you listen to the radio and TV reports at the time? Do you know anyone in the Spanos family?

I would find it difficult to believe that ANY coach in the NFL doesn't have major input in draft day decisions.
For instance, even though Carl had final say and picked LJ, Dicky V. let it be known he wanted the best defensive player Troy P. who went to steelers. It was put out there the coach could be overruled, but most picks were the coaches.
Herm was a bad coach, but had an eye for DB's and so Flowers and Carr would be his picks, not Carl's. marty has too good a draft history to believe he didn't have major role in the drafts while he was there.
