Weight can fluctuate more in the short run because of factors not really associated with how muscular/fat you are. On that note, muscle weighs more than fat so I wouldn't take weight as the absolute measure of success. Maybe you are weighing yourself too often?

You don't have to eat NO carb to eat low carb. Olive oil with meats with a side of steamed veggies works well. Vegetable carbs are, for the most part, good low-carb foods. Especially if they're green. This is because vegetables are full of water. They'll keep you full, but they don't contain a lot of calories. And a lot of the carbs they have are fibers or indigestible material. Any vegetable that's not green likely won't work (cauliflower being an obvious exception that comes to mind). Carrots and tomatoes have sugars, so you'll have to keep them REALLY low if you eat them.

Ok, today is the first day I've really been drinking water like I'm supposed to. As a result, I've been peeing like a 80 year old man. Is my bladder eventually going to get used to it or am I going to be stuck on racehorse mode?

FWIW, the only time my weight was fluctuating wildly my glucose was all out of wack, diabetes can make your weight go haywire. If you're seeing rapid drops/gains, please test your blood sugars (Walmart has 'relion' kits that are affordable even if you don't have insurance).
Re: Lowcarb - I get a lot of info at this Forum. One of my favorite dishes from there is 'crack slaw' - addictive as crack. It's a simplified thai recipe, per one commenter. This is my current version: 1 bag broccoli slaw or cabbage & carrot 'rainbow' slaw 1 lb hamburger 1/2lb to 1 lb hot pork sausage 1 small chopped onion Minced ginger 3 cloves minced garlic 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 tbsp sesame oil + more to taste Dash soy sauce Sriracha chile/garlic paste or your favorite hot sauce* Brown hambuger & sausage with onion/garlic powders and set aside in a colander to drain the fat. Stirfry onion then the slaw until tender crisp with the sesame oil, add the ginger, then the garlic for ~ 1 minute. Toss the hamburger and slaw together and season to taste with soy sauce and some more sesame oil, add chili/garlic paste* to taste. Recipe is easy to double.

So far, had a protein shake, bannana, yogurt, turkey sandwich and 1oz of baked lays.
Getting amped up for my evening workout. I am creating a spreadsheet this afternoon to keep better track of what I am lifting. I am a little too scattershot in the gym. I am going to set a specific amount... so I am not swayed by nights that I am not 'feeling it'. Apparently, the problem with the Chiefs' offseason is that I don't check into Chiefsplanet enough.... so, I am not reading this thread as often. So, I need to work on that. |

Tweaked the routine a bit today toward the strength side instead of the size side. Felt good.
I've had 4 oz low fat cheese, 1 scoop of protein powder, 2 cups of strawberries, a bunch of celery and 2 cookies. The celery and cookies were from a Border War party we went to at some friends' house. Just finished 5 oz of chicken and a handful of pecans. |

Gotta take another week off of lifting. I've developed tendinitis in my forearm. |

Mon/Tues were good days. Really pushed myself and I am really sore. The Spartacus workout as my cardio was clearly hurting my actual weight training. So, I have shelved it for now. I am still using parts of it in my routine, but it isn't an overall routine that will get me to be as strong as I want.
My goal is to lose four pounds a month for the next three months. I will have lost a total of 25lbs. I know that isn't a ton of weight, but right now, I am 5'10" 187. If I drop 12 more lbs, I will be down to 175. That will be really, really lean. I am considering the velocity diet. My wife does not think it is good for me. And, it would elminate any semblance of a family meal at dinner time. Anyways, hurts to type.....Bye |
