2010 CP Mock info thread

Guys,

Welcome back. The 2010 CP Mock will keep the same format as last year. We'll have a great group of 16 dedicated owners who will be responsible for drafting for TWO teams each. This should speed up the process and eliminate some of the problems we've had in years past. - it worked extremely well last year, and I've gotten nothing but positive feedback.

This will be a full 7 round mock, and the anticipated starting date will be Monday, March 8th. This ensures we get done in time for the real draft, and if for some reason we fly through it and finish early, we can always run back through the 1st and/or 2nd round armed with an extra few weeks of knowledge.

I've sent out PM's to all 16 owners from last year, and have already received confirmation from 15. I'm still waiting on DaKCManAP.

If you would like to be considered for a spot should one open up, feel free to declare in this thread. A vote will be taken among current owners to determine who gets the open spots, should any exist. Feel free to make suggestions on possible new owners as well.

I'd like to make assignments by Monday, January 18th. I'm also going to do my best to make sure everyone gets a team they want, or haven't had. Feel free to let me know if there is a specific team you want, and I'll do my best. I think the mock will be even more realistic if owners have at least one team they are interested in. Keep in mind, I'll do my best - no guarantees. Please make any team request by Wednesday, January 13th.

Making the assignments this early gives you the opportunity to do some homework and get an idea of your team's needs before Senior Bowl week (January 25-30) and the Combine. (February 24-March 2)

Any suggestions will be subject to a vote - ideas will be voted upon by the owners PRIOR to the day we begin. Feel free to use this thread as a sounding board for ideas, or shoot me a PM.

We will use the draft order as it stands on the day we begin, including all trades that have taken place up to that date. Once the Mock begins, any trades between NFL teams will be ignored.

Again, any questions, don't hesitate.

EDIT 1/11/2010: Team assignments and rules clarifications.

Compensatory picks will be added again this year PROVIDED they are made public by the time we finish the 3rd round, just like last year.

Yeah..

Sanchez--Obviously a terrible pick
Beanie Wells--Another awful pick
Cody Brown--Hurt his wrist in PS, spent the year on IR
Coye Francies--Had a Donald Washington-esque year for the Browns.
Jasper Brinkley--Starting for the Vikings
David Bruton--Played the whole year for the Broncos
Cornelius Lewis--That's a bust of a pick, no doubt
Gerald Cadogan--Not a good pick
Mike Goodson--Drafted by Carolina. Spent the year behind Stewart and Williams.
Rhett Bomar--Giants 3rd/4th string QB as a rookie. Developmental player, that's notbad.
DeAngelo-Smith. Backup safety for the Lions
Terrance Knighton--45 tackles and 1.5 sacks as a rookie for the Jags. Was actually drafted in the 3rd round, got him in the 6th.
Josh Mauga--7th round LB. Bounced back and forth on the Jets' PS
Roy Miller--yth round DT who had 27 tackles and 2 sacks as a rookie. Was actually drafted in the 3rd round.
Kenny McKinley--WR drafted in the 5th by the Broncos I got in the 7th. Saw some KR and ST action as a n00b.
Brandon Tate--6th round pick for me, 3rd in reality. It's a pick you take and put him on IR b/c of his knee injury his Sr. Year. It'll pay off down the road.
Thomas Morestead--KO specialist for the Saints. They took him in the 5th, I got him in the 6th for the Pats.
Cary Harris--last pick for the Pats. He was drafted by the Bills in the 6th round. Had two picks as a rookie.
Don Carey-7th round pick who actually went in the 6th. Plays for the Jags. Developmental player who spent the year on IR.
Camerron Morrah-6th round pick by me who went in the 7th. Played the whole year for the Seahawks, but didn't see much time behind John Carlson.
Bradley Fletcher--6th round player I picked who actually went in the third. Finished with 3 starts and 23 tackles as a rookie
Robert Brewster--7th rounder that I got for the next to last pick in the draft. He was drafted in the 3rd round by Dallas, and projects to be their RTOTF.
Brandon Swain--DII player I took as MR. Irrelevant. Never amounted to anything. So sue me.

So please, tell me how terrible that draft is.

I got the Raiders?

I'm going to do my best Al Davis and take Usain Bolt in the first round.

Can't believe I got the Broncos again.

In a QB-light Draft, too. Ugh.

Really?

I had a list of teams everyone has had dating back two years. I can't believe I missed it.

If you find someone willing to switch, feel free - just let me know if you do.

Sorry.

EDIT: Well, it's because I didn't miss it. Your teams in 2008 were the Bills and Bucs, and the Saints and Giants last year.

I can't believe this will be the fourth consecutive year I'm in it. Feels like it was just yesterday. I always feel lucky to be included in on this thing. It's the best thing CP does every year.

I'm just bitching to bitch. No worries. I just hate the Donks.

It's not going to be easy, though. There's not a lot of QBs that I like this year.

And FTR, everyone, I haven't posted a draft order yet because there are so many coin flips this year that will effect it.

IIRC, the coin flips take place at the combine, and I'll post as soon as we have something concrete.

Normally, you'd be right, but the combine is late this year, so we had to fall back a week.

I think the last day of the combine is March 2nd.

I'm excited like a kid for Christmas. Santa Sfeihc is going to bring the Lions and Giants some really good talent this year.

Adding Suh to go along with Schwartz, Stafford, and Calvin Johnson will be very nice. Just think if Lions had took Oher instead of Pettigraw.

You think Hamas is going with Claussen at 1?

He should and the Rams should as well. While I think Suh is the best player in the draft, if you don't have a franchise QB you need to draft one.
