Peyton Manning

So...

Do you guys still think Tom Brady is better than Peyton Manning?

Everyone always said that he played with the better supporting cast...which is why Tom was better.

Now Peyton is playing behind a terrible offensive line and throwing to the likes of Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon...having arguably his best year ever...just like I always said...it wasn't the OTHER players...it was Peyton Manning.

So...

Is Brady still better than Manning?

Just curious.

His yards per attempt were the same as Mannings... 7.4.

And he won, and didn't throw any picks. Manning's desire to push the field cost him. Not only did his incompletions nullify his desire to push the field, but it also cost him an interception

Great numbers by both QB's. But look at Brees over 80% completion percentage. You can argue the toughness of the throws all you want, but Brees had the better game.
Name me a tough pass Brees made...

Manning made 3 or 4 throws, at least, that were unbelievable and throws only he could make.

On 3rd down alone.

I had 25 people over and the whole place was wow'ing....literally. That pass to Clark was insane.

And he was lights out for the entire game sans one costly throw to the worst receiver on the field.

Brees deserves the MVP and the Super Bowl...but I'm not going to blame that loss on Manning because it was a total team loss, for sure. Just like I didn't blame Favre for the loss to the Saints two weeks ago (and I hate Favre)...

Those games are Favre and Manning's fault on this forum because everyone hates them for some reason, I find it humerous.

that's the Tony Dungy tree for you

you ever think the Colts would try something like that?

or go for it on 4th and 2 goal to go...

and then have the Colts hand the ball off to Mike Hart twice to pretty much concede 3 more points...

and then let Stover try a 51 yard field goal..

I just can't get over the Dungy tree...will always hate those coaches more than anything
Doesn't Manning call his own plays basically? If he didn't like those Hart handoffs, then he could have simply audibled out of them like he has been doing all his career. The Saints played better.

ok, exactly?

I'm not debating whether or not Brees played a good game...

I know he did. It was clear. He was excellent.

Anything else?

If I had to blame the Colts for their loss, I would do so in this order:

1) Defense
2) Conservative coaching style
3) GAP
4) Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne

The funny thing is...

had Peyton tied that game up at 24...if the Saints won in regulation on the next drive...

this thread would have been bumped and he still would have been called a choker...

I think I'd blame their defense for not being able to get off the field so the Saints could employ their dink and dunk ball control pass offense that kept the Colts offense off the field for the majority of the game.

I don't know how anyone watched that game and thought Brees was the better QB...clearly he was not. Peyton made a bad throw and it was costly...but does anyone really think he was shitting his pants there? OMG...he was marching down the field at ease that drive...Vilma made a great play before the pick...he made a bad throw...Wayne didn't even run a freaking route...he should have thrown it to Collie...

Brady, Elway, Marino, Montana, Favre, etc. etc. etc.

have all had numerous games that were much worse than the game Peyton Manning just had...

Manning had a great game overall...but couldn't get it done at the end...the fact the Colts decided it was a good idea to let Stover kick a 51 yard field goal was another baffling decision to me...

The Colts did not do ONE thing to help themselves out that game...the Saints got all three of the pivotal "breaks" that win games featuring two teams that can't stop one another...
I never said Brees was the better QB. At all. I'm talking about Peyton being the GOAT. He's not. Because while all of those guys had worse games, who did it in the biggest game of them all? Elway? Yeah, well he's not the GOAT IMO either.

My only point is that he's not the GOAT, and he'll have a tough road to go to get there from here.

my friends were joking at halftime...

the sideline reporters go to Manning and ask...

"peyton how do you plan on fixing the defense??"

and then peyton starts answering without thinking...

(you know, like he's the head coach)...

and when Caldwell popped up someone said..."who's that?" and some witty bastard goes "the Colts assistant coach"...

also we thought it would have been funny if the Colts, when being announced pre-game, would have already been on the field except Peyton and they just had Peyton run through the tunnel jumping up and down and stuff...

watching the game with friends is so much more relaxing than trying to watch the game on this forum...
