Computers Best data recovery program?

I downloaded PC inspector, which is a free program, but it literally takes forever to recover and transfer data to the computer or another drive.

I'm wondering what is the best product out there that won't cost me a ton for data recovery?

I've never used a data recovery tool but these guys are an independeant evaluator of tech stuff. Heres their evaluation of the best recovery tools on the market.

I guess I'm not really looking for a data recovery, but a program that will read my external HD that's not accessible on Windows like PC Inspector did. It was able to find tons of damaged files, but the DT utilities program only found manually deleted files.

Make a Knopix boot disk and try to read it that way. Transfer it to a new external.

I just used EASEUS Data Recovery the other day. Worked like a charm. I believe you can pick it up at any Fry's or Best Buy. Possibly get it online as well.

The issue I'm running into is that the PC inspector is way, way slow and is crashing out if I'm trying to copy a decent amount of material.

I just need something that can read damaged data, and transfer it at a decent amount of speed. I think messing with Linux isn't something I'm tech savvy enough to do.

You could also find a download for Hiren's Boot Disk(Will have to find it using google as it's not 100% kosher). It has several options for data recovery. I have had some success with GetDataBack.

It has two applications in particular that could likely help you out.
