Official 2010 NFL Combine Thread

Post your observations of the combine here. I know some things I'll be looking at: Mount Cody's weight, 40 times of players we've been talking about in the various threads, or the number of times Tebow's name gets mentioned. Post your observations here.

There's more to it than competitiveness. People know McClain is slow, so why would he confirm that by running the 40 and costing himself money? It's a smart business move. These kids have agents in their ears giving them all kinds of advice. McClain might have wanted to run the 40, but it's certainly possible that his agent advised him not to.

Getting Benn at 50 would be like stealin'. Benn with Bowe and Chambers would give the Chiefs 3 legit WRs. Maybe, just maybe, they'll take advantage of the WR depth and drat two of them.

So the "lack of competitiveness" garbage is only valid if that player isn't generally thought of as a speed demon? m'kay.

Wait wait wait, are you implying that guy who might hurt his stock by running at the combine may not actually have a lack of competitiveness?

No, that's one example, you dumb mother****er.

Speed ?, doesn't run the 40= red flag.

Offensive system question, doesn't take snaps from center or throw at the combine= red flag.

Strength concerns, no bench or Cybex= red flag.

So Sam Bradford = red flag? (I wouldn't disagree with that, just attempting to understand your criteria)

Tebow didn't throw at the combine. Are there question marks about his competitiveness?

Without a doubt.

Same for Tebow.

If someone is coming from a Pro System (Stafford) and doesn't throw, it's disappointing, but you already know he can operate from under center.

If a guy has questionable arm strength or schematic questions and he doesn't throw, it's a huge red flag.

And I wouldn't just call it a lack of competitiveness, I'd call it cowardice.

And it's not just high profile guys like Tebow, McCoy, or Bradford. LeFevour should be ****ing crushed for not throwing. Crushed.

I get the feeling that because LeFevour was a star at central michigan, he thinks he is going to be a superstar in the NFL. I don't really like he ego right now.

Jesus Christ. We already know it's a red flag when a guy doesn't come from a pro style system. Operating from under center at the combine and looking decent at best isn't going to help them. It's a ****ing business decision.

Did you feel the same way about Stafford last year?

So you can add stupid on top of scared.

The correct answer is this:

Go in and do everything. If you don't do something well, stress that your strengths during interviews. Kill the interviews.

If you don't run well, then you tell the coaches and GMs you'll do whatever is necessary to make yourself quicker, whether it's losing 10 lbs. or spending more time in the film room to help you anticipate things better.

If you have a problem with the offense, let them know you are going to bust your ass until you can do a 3, 5, or 7 step drop in the middle of a Tokyo firebombing, and throw a football to a target without hitting a flame.

Don't dodge your weaknesses. Confront and conquer them.

It's that simple.
