Computers Rosetta Stone vs. Instant Immersions for Spanish - Page 2

I already speak a little spanish, but want to become full blown bilingual. My sons are 26 months old and i want to start Spanish with them before they are 3yrs old. The two most populare softwares on the market are Rosetta Stone which costs around $400 for the whole set and Instant Immersion which cost between $50 and $100 for the whole set. Instant Immersion says their product is so much cheaper because they don't spend millions in advertisements. I'm not convinced its just and inferior product.

Has anyone ever used either? is Rosetta Stone $300 better than Intant Immersion?

Which is exactly the point. Pretty soon there will be more spanish speakers than english speakers.

not trying to make this political or anything, but they were speaking spanish in this part of the country before they were speaking english. just sayin

most of the one's I tried don't give you a good base. They just allow you to Honkey Rig the language to get by in a pinch.

I've only used Rosetta Stone, so I can't compare the two. But it was good. If you already know some Spanish, parts of it will be maddeningly boring. It's also, by nature, repetitive. So bring some patience a long.

But it won't make you fluent. That's just outside the reach of the program. Every time I've been abroad or to Mexico, I've learned more than any studying done in the States. Not just because you're surrounded by the language, but because you feel lost. Walking around by yourself without a clue as to what's going on makes you learn far faster than staring at a computer for an hour mouthing words before going upstairs and watching football. Also, it's a lot more fun.

Now if you're like most people, taking off to a foreign country to party with the locals isn't an option. So learn at home and reward yourself at some point by heading to Spain. Helps keep you motivated too.
