UPDATE: I listened to the advice given and broke off things before it could get really serious. I simply told her although I'm flattered by her interest, because she is married, I would never go down the route. Further I told her, she has to stop sending me messages via my work email that can if looked at more closely create a whole new set of problems at work. At which point, she told me that she's never felt this way and that she didn't realize until it was too late (now) and that she agrees that we don't want to go further with this as it could lead to many problems. After which we continued talking but about other work related items.

In retrospect, I don't know what I was thinking because if I was in the other guys shoes, I would be furious.

OK, here is some honest advice from a reerun:

About two months ago I was all set to bang this married broad I met on the internet. Now, the way she set it up, she was in an open relationship. Whatever, she was hot, I wanted to pork her blonde brains out.

The fact that your place of employment is involved should just add another layer of RED ALERT over all of this.
