Schefter: Steelers Contacting Teams to Trade Big Ben for Top 10 pick

http://twitter.com/adam_schefter
Pittsburgh has begun contacting teams to trade Ben Roethlisberger for a top 10 pick. At least one team considering it. Story far from done.

Did they or did they not win any bowls before Roethlisberger since the 70s, the answer is no.

They made it once and lost.

We all know Mecca would build the Bengals... he has never cared about character. That's just how he views it.

I don't think it's totally about image though. If you think Bill Polian gives a flying rats anus about what you, or even any Colts fan, thinks of his team, you're giving yourself way too much credit. These teams pretty much do what they want. Whether it's getting rid of Marvin Harrison, Santonio Holmes, trading Lawyer Milloy away... if you want to do something stupid they won't put up with it.

What Mecca doesn't get, is that it goes much deeper than that. That ability to recognize and evaluate character is what helps these guys build dynasties. It doesn't have to be the "right 53" of all boy scouts or anything like that... that'll be Mecca's argument. But the ability to evaluate character surely helped tip the scales of Manning over Ryan Leaf, and Edge over Ricky Williams when that was considered an odd decision. It's not like they only sign milk and cookies guys but they are able to create an atmosphere where they get the most of guys.

So all you care about is a win?

Thankfully, most people disagree.

Regular Americans, you know, the ones that AREN'T in the news or on shows like TMZ on a daily basis for ****ing up, are sick of pampered, cry-baby athletes that make millions upon millions of dollars to play a ****ing GAME.

The money is there and has to be paid, so the athletes WILL get paid. But no one likes rooting for a **** up (Joey Porter ring any bells?) or for a two-time accused rapist who paid off anyone in the vicinity of his crimes.

I want the Chiefs to build a winning organization but not at the expense of losing their dignity as a franchise or shaming the city in which they reside.

Apparently, the Rooney's feel the same way.

The face of their franchise was not a "Dumbshit".

THAT'S the difference.

I don't think the Chiefs are in danger of going 0-16 anytime soon.

And even if they did, I'd rather have a guy like Stafford than like Ruthlessraper.

It's one thing to realize that your chamiponship team was loaded with a holes and say oh well. It's a different thing to know guys are undesirable and still bring them in to win a championship. Expost facto....or guilty? LOL

I think I would take the Super Bowl wins and worry about him keeping his dick in his pants later.

This is why KC will be doomed with shitty pro teams for eternity.

If you are looking for solid upstanding citizens, role models for your kids, blah blah blah go watch the Hallmark Channel.

If you want to win a championship you need the best players available. I don't give a shit what guys do off the field... as long as they win that is all that matters.

Ben Roethlisberger could have committed genocide in Darfur and I could frankly care less if it meant the Chiefs having a realistic chance to land a 28 year old 2 time Super Bowl winning QB.
