I'm somewhere in the middle on this.

Rothlisberger is pretty clearly a douche, but I do think the NFL has gone a bit overboard, in general, in trying to regulate its image.

I completely disagree, and it's never more evident than when visiting the 'Planet.

Nearly every time the topic of KC getting an NBA team comes up, the posts are 10-1 not in favor, usually because people state "I'm not paying to see thugs play basketball".

Goodell is doing his best to avoid that stereotype.

I think it's a smart move. They're the most popular sport in the US by a fairly wide margin - the ****ing draft, not even a game, is going to beat the NBA playoffs in ratings - and it's pretty clear they want to keep it that way by taking their public image so seriously.

And it's a proactive approach. The punishments are severe because they're intended to be a deterrent, to keep players from getting themselves into these situations to begin with.

After the first situation and the motorcycle accident and now this, I can see why Pittsburgh would be willing to listen to offers now. Nothing he's done off-the-field so far makes him look like he's a very bright guy. Hell, when Terry fucking Bradshaw's calling you a dummy....
