Football WSJ: How to fix college football conferences? Make them like English soccer

To add on to my post, to the extent that this english soccer system has any value at all to US sports (it doesn't, it is a stupid crap idea), it is especially idiotic in college sports because we have no "cheapskate" issues here. You cant blame Iowa State for not "spending enough" (unless you are very cynical!). Who would have predicted that Kansas football could improve after the 90's? Who could have predicted K-State's resurgence before that?

A college team performs badly so they should be relegated. Why? They didn't recruit or try hard enough? How stupid is that argument in college sports?
