GIF'D UP! 2010

It was one year ago that Bernard Pollard missed five tackles in one preseason game. Angered by his ineptness, I gif'd his ass up.

The gifs didn't lie. Pollard was exposed as a fraud, cut and banished from Kansas City. Emboldened by this great success, I created a massive a thread in which we exposed every fraud on the 2009 Kansas City Chiefs.

No one escaped the wrath of GIF'D UP. Every week, the ****ing axe came down with thunder. It was brutal, it was bloody, and it used up a ****ton of bandwidth.

GIF'D UP is back for 2010 and season two. We're going to expose every fraud on the 2010 Kansas City Chiefs. Let's get this show on the road. There are 20 weeks to the Super Bowl, Corey Mays, Jon McGraw, Ryan O'Failaghan and Rudy Niswanger are still Chiefs, and we need to send Mike Vrabel into early retirement.

LOCK AND LOAD!

In about an hour, we officially kick it off with the Atlanta review.

First, note the open Dwayne Bowe on the pivotal cluster****.

Now, overthrow or not? You decide.

****ed up the cornhole or not? Rhetorical question.

Look at the right side of the overthrow to Moeaki. You see someone with about 4 steps on their defender. I was screaming about this during the game.

Edit: The first pic didn't load for me so i didn't know you already pointed it out.

That's Bowe. I pointed him out in the freeze frame.

It looks to me like Moeaki's route took him along the 50-yard line...when he sees how far off the throw is he's forced to break his route and retreat backward. So not only did Cassel throw the ball too far, he threw it BEHIND Moeaki. Just terrible.

That's what a lot of people are pointing out.

I don't buy it. Just because he was open then doesn't mean he was open when Cassel went through his first progression. By the time Cassel threw the ball, he didn't have time to look at the second read because there was a defender about to whack him. I don't see anything in the clip that suggests Bowe was open before Cassel turns to Moeaki. And Moeaki is open, so I don't see the debate.

The debate shouldn't be about whether he made the right read. He threw it to an open receiver. The debate is about how he put in a place that was completely uncatchable. Check that. That's not even up for debate.

It's not surprising Cassel threw such a lousy ball, he was under extreme pressure. Poor baby.

Also, kudos to Albert for whiffing terribly on the game's pivotal cluster****.

Now, that's where I agree with you. Horrible block. And if that's Brady, even if he's going to get popped, you can bet he's stepping into that throw.

How about this? You can see Bowe clearing just as Cassel starts to look Moeaki's way. Maybe I'm wrong, but a $15 million QB should have the field vision to locate receivers as they cross into his field of view. Mentally, he should be aware of where they're going to be and if they might come open based on the coverage he's already looked at (Casshole looked at the right side of the field first, which is the side of the field Bowe is obviously running to).

But maybe I'm expecting too much from Franchise ****up.

It definitely looks like Moeaki is not expecting that ball to be thrown in that spot at all. He looks like he's running a route and then OH SHIT I HAVE TO BACK PEDAL AND TRY AND FART REALLY HARD TO GET A FEW EXTRA METERS ON MY VERTICAL!!!!

A few things on this.

First, it was a horrible play call to start with. We were killing them w/ our running game and really they showed zero signs in stopping it, 3rd n 2 in that situation you run the ball to at least try to run some time down on the clock, and if we didn't make it, I would have gone for it on 4th down as well.

Now, the play. Had it been executed properly, it would have won us the game. To start off, Albert just totally ****ed it up from the get go, as Cassel had immediate pressure, I'm not sure he would have had enough time to really step into the throw without gettin popped, changing the flight/zip on the pass.

Secondly, this isn't Peyton Manning, or Tom Brady, this is Matt god damn Cassel. He's going to panic and his mechanics will go to shit. Albert got beat so badly that whoever it was (maybe Mario Williams?) got in his face, Cassel is thinking "oh **** - get ball out now". The gif isn't game speed obviously, and It probably wasn't until about 4 seconds (at least) or so until Bowe's coming across the field wide open. Well, I'm not sure Cassel had that much time, let alone enough time to step into a throw enough for a 20yd pass (his arm isn't great). Had Albert blocked Williams accordingly, we prob wouldn't be having this discussion, Cassel would have had enough time to find Bowe as he was rolling to that side.

All in all it was:
1. Horrible play call in that situation, anyway you look at it.
2. Horrible blocking/poor execution
3. And an even shittier pass to a covered Moeaki

It came down to making 6 feet and putting the game away.....instead this team transformed into last years and found a way to lose. Not to mention the defense just completely broke down and Crennel just got outcoached in the 2nd half.

It wasn't a horrible call. Milkman already pointed out how Cassel had been doing well converting 4th and short earlier in the game.
