Did he quit in his rookie year? It's been a while and I know stats don't tell the whole story, but over 1300 yards and 17 TDs plus 148 yards and 2 TDs in the playoffs. Pretty good for quitting. As far as the Raiders, while he did not play well I would say that falls well into the "not winning" category. That whole team was/is a cancer. I didn't think he quit on the Pats and he definitely didn't quit in his first season.

The guys clearly an asshole, but has shown that when put in a good position, he can be a game changer. Low risk, high reward. Take him if we can get him.
he quit on the vikes this year (a)

and he quit on a winning pats team (b)

and he's quit on every team he's been on....people can claim he be teh awesome for us, but not for any reason grounded in reality...

he's been essentially cut twice THIS year....

hey, sign the guy....but spare me the 'he'll play hard for us because' bullshit....

Remember Eddie Kennison...

...and I would argue about his "quitting the pats."

He didn't quit.

He got uppity and the NE coaching staff started to work him out of the playbook so they could deal him without impacting their offense too greatly.

And if he quit? Oh well, I'll take his performance as a quitter over Chambers/Copper. For as 'awful' as Moss has been this year, he still has 5 TDs and probably the best TD catch you'll see all season (if not him, Moeaki).

He fits our weaknesses too well to not consider him. Teams bring in good character guys for more than convenience. They bring in good character guys to build a solid foundation. With a foundation in place, you can bring in a handful of guys like Randy Moss or Shaun Smith because you know you have 50 other guys in that locker room you can count on to keep them in line.

Character guys impact more than just themselves and passing on the occasional headcase talent like Moss in the name of preserving 'team character' fails to utilize one of the key advantages of having that character - the ability to carry a talented malcontent or two.
