If Chiefsplanet members were dogs...

I'm closing in on a deadline today, which means that I'm self-sabotaging by monkeying around with something. So I developed a dog simulator to show you what kind of breed you'd be if you were born a dog.

I went to the American Kennel Club site and pulled down their list of breeds, and created a little random selector. If you want to know your breed, post in the thread and I'll give you the breakdown. You can then look them up on the AKC site here: http://www.akc.org/breeds/complete_breed_list.cfm.

However, we're not all purebreds, so most of us will be a mix of breeds. Therefore, I set my selector up to give people a 25% chance of being a purebred. If not, you have a 50 percent chance of being 50% one breed and 50% some other mix, which is itself a 50 percent chance of being one breed and 50% some other mix. The maximum is an eight-breed mix and I stop there.

I assumed the registered breeds are most common and made them 97 percent of the probability. I don't have population data on how common each breed is, so all of those breeds are equally likely. Similarly, for the unregistered/rare breeds, I made them all equally likely, and they collectively will represent 3 percent of breeds.

When I post your results, it'll have a number followed by the breed. The number is the percent you have in you, so if you have multiple breeds they should all add up to 100. If a breed appears twice, add them up. (I don't pull a breed from the algorithm once it's been selected so it's possible, albeit unlikely, that it can show up more than once.)

Ready? Post if you want to be a dog and I'll give you your results.

I'll start. Here's what I am.

I'm a mutt, sort of:

50 Silky Terrier
12.5 Flat-Coated Retriever
12.5 Swedish Vallhund
12.5 Saluki
12.5 Cane Corso

So I'm half this guy....

and 1/8th each of these. (For some reason the AKC didn't have a Cane Corso drawing.) That probably means I'm a medium-small dog with moderately long hair and a healthy snout.

I'll post the numbers, but not pictures. You can pull them off the AKC site for most dogs.

Often.

Glad I don't have to use imagination to know what I look like. That sounded really hard.

Looks almost like a miniature german shepherd, apparently also good at dog agility courses. Whatever that mix is, I should be good at catching frisbees.

If your random selector puts me as one of those tiny yip-yip dogs, I'm going to drive to Colorado myself and break your laptop.

I mean, I'd get you a new one, but it'd have to be one that's smart enough to know what kind of dog I REALLY am
