that's just the issue with ANY sort of rep system on a message board. you have your people who hand it out like candy, you have the rep whores who trade it like venereal disease, and you have your misers who hand it out on the second blue moon of the year after they're done watching matlock.

it's an inherently flawed system, and thus pointless to complain about people not 'earning it honestly.' it's a joke whether people "earn" their rep or don't. shit, I know for a fact that I don't rep every deserving post--should I feel guilty? nope. it's a fun diversion from time to time, but not exactly life or freaking death.

Its not a science, but the best posters who constantly throw gems on the board all day long will still get more than their share of the "candy", "whores", and "misers".

yes and no. there are times that said 'best posters' slide by on reputation. nobody throws gems up 24/7. sure, some are better than others, but it's rare for anybody to be 'on' all the time.
