Lyrical analysis, continued.
(Yeah, Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ark) Oo-ooh-ooh, hoo yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah Yeah-ah-ah Yeah-ah-ah Yeah-ah-ah Yeah-ah-ah Yeah, yeah, yeah Analysis: It's about childbirth (ooh ooh) and about the hope that parents have for their children the first time they lay eyes upon them (yeah yeah). [Rebecca Black - Verse 1] 7am, waking up in the morning Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal Seein’ everything, the time is goin’ Tickin’ on and on, everybody’s rushin’ Gotta get down to the bus stop Gotta catch my bus, I see my friends (My friends) Analysis: The early part of the stanza is about enlightenment. Her eyes open, things are fresh to her. However, real-world pressures bring her down from this enlightenment ("go downstairs"), and drag her into the mundane (eating cereal). She is then forced into conformity with society (going to the bus stop to catch the bus, which is full of other people who have done the same), but then she sees an alternative, a means of escape. Kickin’ in the front seat Sittin’ in the back seat Gotta make my mind up Which seat can I take? Obviously, this is about self-determination. Will she ride in the back seat and let others guide her life, or will she sit in the front seat and lead a purposeful life? It’s Friday, Friday Gotta get down on Friday Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend Friday, Friday Gettin’ down on Friday Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend This is about death. Friday represents the end stages of our life, akin to the end stages of the week, and then she talks about "getting down" (dying). Everyone is looking forward to death. It completes the initial birth/life/death cycle of the early stanzas. Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah) Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah) Fun, fun, fun, fun Lookin’ forward to the weekend [Rebecca Black - Verse 2] 7:45, we’re drivin’ on the highway Cruisin’ so fast, I want time to fly Fun, fun, think about fun You know what it is I got this, you got this My friend is by my right I got this, you got this Now you know it Kickin’ in the front seat Sittin’ in the back seat Gotta make my mind up Which seat can I take? [Chorus] It’s Friday, Friday Gotta get down on Friday Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend Friday, Friday Rebecca Black Friday lyrics found on http://www.directlyrics.com/rebecca-...ay-lyrics.html Gettin’ down on Friday Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah) Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah) Fun, fun, fun, fun Lookin’ forward to the weekend [Bridge] Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday Today i-is Friday, Friday (Partyin’) We-we-we so excited We so excited We gonna have a ball today Tomorrow is Saturday And Sunday comes after...wards I don’t want this weekend to end [Rap Verse] R-B, Rebecca Black So chillin’ in the front seat (In the front seat) In the back seat (In the back seat) I’m drivin’, cruisin’ (Yeah, yeah) Fast lanes, switchin’ lanes Wit’ a car up on my side (Woo!) (C’mon) Passin’ by is a school bus in front of me Makes tick tock, tick tock, wanna scream Check my time, it’s Friday, it’s a weekend We gonna have fun, c’mon, c’mon, y’all [Chorus] It’s Friday, Friday Gotta get down on Friday Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend Friday, Friday Gettin’ down on Friday Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah) Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah) Fun, fun, fun, fun Lookin’ forward to the weekend It’s Friday, Friday Gotta get down on Friday Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend Friday, Friday Gettin’ down on Friday Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah) Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah) Fun, fun, fun, fun Lookin’ forward to the weekend

And when the fear rises up in my belly, I use it. Fear is powerful, because it’s been there for billions of years. And it is good. And I use it. And I ride it; I ride it like a skeleton horse through the gates of hell.” |

Do any of 'em have iPods or Nintendos? Do any of 'em have a cell phone in their hands? Do any of 'em smoke a doobie? Do any of 'em collect thousands of dollars in bonuses from our government while their company is filing for bankruptcy? Give 'em alot of credit for doing without any of this stuff during the shooting of this soon-to-be-classic video. C'mon, let's hear it! |

Based on the following observation...
The two girls in the car (at the bus stop) AND Rebecca Black have zits near their noses... ...the lyrics should be revised to the following: You know what zit is I got zit, you got zit My zit lives day and night I got zit, you got zit Now you know zit |
