Rich Tandler of realredskins.com is reporting that the buzz within the Washington Redskins organization is that the NFL lockout could be lifted by this Sunday, July 10th.

Tandler is not vague with his information:
In fact, there is talk in the Redskins organization that there will be a resolution this week and that the lockout will end Sunday.

I’m not sure how credible a source Tandler is so take his report with a grain of salt. The National Football Post is also passing along Tandler’s report so they at least think enough of him to mention it.

I wouldn’t get your hopes too high here. Even Tandler mentions in his article that the information could just be office chatter. Then again, there are a lot of folks who think that this week is the deadline for the two sides to get something done so Tandler and the folks within the Redskins organization could just be engaging in some informed guesswork.

Guess we’ll all find out soon.

Ok. So where the hell did NFLdraftinsider pull shit out of? I was just passing along a tweet about the negotiations. Which apparently didn't even happen today. I think.

If it weren't for owners like Snyder, Jones and other "new school" owners, I bet we would already have a deal in place.

It would be cool if it's true though...that would mean we get a full camp and preseason to get up to speed and a decent amount of time to get the rookies signed.

Here's a new discussion point though... if there is a new rookie cap, will that throw a HUGE monkey wrench into rookie negotiations?

I mean, in the past it's been a game of dominoes and with such a short amount of time and a new factor to the equation, when will the first domino fall and how hard will it be to get some of these guys signed?

I think it's gonna cause some problems.

Well, that depends. Aren't part of the talks having to do with a slotted rookie pay scale? That might make it go quicker.

If they go to a slotted system like basketball, I think if would be good for the sport...but that would probably mean shorter rights to players as well.

It would definetly mean the signing process would be sped up and all rookies would always get to camp on time.

Where did you read that is a good possibility in current negotiations?

Jerry Jones have set a tentatively scheduled a training camp to take place at San Antonio’s Alamodome on July 29th through August 13th.
Maybe he knows something we don't. Hummmm? He is the "ringleader" in this thing on one side of the ball, after all.

I didn't, that's why I was asking. I know it's always been talked about as something the sport needs, though. It's getting out of hand, with the giant contracts kids in the top 15 of the first round are getting.

well technically NFLDI is correct

talks did go slow because only the lawyers met face-to-face today

and the preseason is in danger because they only have about 10 days before they start missing preseason games.

There are ways of instituting regulations into the signing process that would lessen the amount of leverage agents have in negotiations with high picks without going to a full blown slotting system. I think the system needs tweaked, not replaced.
