I don't necessarily find that overly impressive.

It wasn't like he was looking off a safety for a deep out or went through four different reads in a nanosecond a'la Brady. He looked right, looked left locked on and threw left.

I understand what you are saying Sac, but remember who we've had a QB for the last four years since Green left. Then you understand why something so small is exciting to see from Stanzi. Non of our previous few QB's since Green left have really been consistent about going through progressions.

Stanzi made several nice throws in the game. That wasn't one of them. He had very nice protection, made 2 reads and missed his throw.

The receiver had to extend for the ball.

That's hardly missing it.

I've seen Cassel put that ball in the dirt.

Yeah, that wasn't a great one.

It does show some nice growth potential, though. He was composed in the pocket and kept his rhythm throughout the play. His throwing mechanics were pretty solid as well.

It was just a bad throw - they happen. The fundamentals were pretty nice in that play, but the throw wasn't executed terribly well. EDIT: Watched it again, the mistake came with his feet. He didn't step towards his target, but rather stepped out a little. It brought his shoulder too far through and as expected, the throw followed his feet. So the mechanics weren't exactly ideal, but at least the problem is easily diagnosed and fixed.

If Cassel makes that throw, I'd be pretty pissed off about it. As such, I have to at least acknowledge that the throw probably should've been made. There was still plenty of good news to take away from that play, however.
