Mainly. There are some mexicans and whites scattered in there too.

I think I'm being trolled, but here's the demographic breakdown for New York City which would be the largest urban population in the US.

White alone - 2,961,851 (35.3%)
Hispanic - 2,315,041 (27.6%)
Black alone - 1,931,723 (23.0%)
Asian alone - 998,081 (11.9%)
Two or more races - 106,570 (1.3%)
Other race alone - 61,585 (0.7%)
American Indian alone - 14,355 (0.2%)
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone - 2,675 (0.03%)

As for it being a black thing, the black viewership in the NBA was around 10% of the total viewership. In comparison, it's like 12-15% of the total for the NFL.

I'm not the biggest fan of the NBA, but I'm growing to like it more and more. I just wish I had a team I could root for.

I watched the playoffs last year and they were absolutely epic form top to bottom. You never get such tense moments in the NFL and it was just nonstop in 2011.
