Next, Pioli hired Weis and forced him on Haley. Haley wanted no part in Weis, it's been documented. Haley was VERY displeased with the offensive playcalling in the playoff game, and possibly wanted to take playcalling away from him at the half, but didn't. The two of them never meshed, and when the season came to an end, Weis found an easy out, and went to coach with his son.

Bill Muir is the only OC Haley has had any part in, unless you count Haley himself. Hell, he may have just given Muir the job to give himself a scapegoat and buy himself another year, who knows. If this team gets a QB though, I'd expect to see either Haley or Zorn calling plays next year.
The feeling seems mutual

So many grass is greener fans.

Everyone calling for Pioli's head are just buying into what has been a media driven campaign since he made an enemy of media favorite Waters, and shut out the media that was use to being somewhat buddy buddy with Peterson. Petro, Whitlock, Wright, and others have been anti Pioli from near the start. The Jackson pick was awful, in fact that whole draft sucked, but it was his first, without his own personnel people. The last two drafts have been very good. Maybe lots of people dispute this, but I looked back at the draft threads, and universally the last two drafts were loved at the time.

No one cares about the media's perception of Pioli.

It has more to do with his performance in acquiring personnel.

Much truthism in this post thing, Mr. Messier.

It's funny how often myths are generated that have so much staying power. The Chiefs are awash in crazy stories that gained traction and stuck like a power sander in an ass crack.

Yes because turning around literally a franchise that was the WORST it had been in history is something he should be fired for...

LOL...

I am drunk but seriously are you arguing for Pioli to be fired too or just Haley

you are too much man

I disagree with Pawnmower about much, but I must agree here. I'm sorry he can't turnover 45 roster spots in 2 drafts. (excusing the 2009 atrocity.)

IMO Haley has outperformed Pioli. The fact is, though, that GMs aren't held to the same standards. I think firing Haley would be ill advised, but it could happen. You don't get a lot of time as a HC before you're on the hot seat. Pioli will absolutely not be fired for years to come unless he feels up Clark's wife in a bar or something.

You are? I'm not.

Not that I'm done with Pioli, but that is still a huge strike against him. He has a ways to go to make up for it especially considering how the 2010 second round has panned out.

I also love how the fact that most of the talent on the team was acquired before Pioli was here is a weakness. As if that's somehow a negative on Pioli.

You're right, he probably should have used the scouting staff that was scouting for a power-blocking running offensive scheme and a 4-3 defensive scheme.

While the draft was awful, I would contend the majority of the blame lies with Clark for that one. Further, 2009 was amongst the weakest draft classes in recent history.

Further, how you can pass a verdict on the 2010 second round is beyond me. I was very critical of McCluster and Arenas as second round picks. However, even I will give them three years before declaring them busts.
