You really want to put in a rookie QB with our OL against that schedule?

Yes... but I am not convinced our O-line is quite as bad as some make it out to be.

It's been bad, but I'm with you, Mr. Coogs. I'm not sure it couldn't be better with a quarterback with a quicker release and a tad more mobility when you need it.

Since he's a lefty, I'd like to see Haley/Muir/Zorn throw some bootlegs and rollouts in this game. I think it would help the line ... particularly Richardson ... a lot. Also, I'd be targeting the bejeesus out of Breaston.

I was actually talking about Stanzi. IIRC, he is right handed... but as far as the rest of it, we are on the same page.

Honestly, hell yeah I would.

If he can put up Dalton like numbers....or hell, even Ponder like numbers, he'd be more productive than Cassel and would actually give us hope that he can be a solid QB.

Did you watch Stanzi in the first two preseason games? The 3rd string line he had blocking for him was the worst I've ever seen in any pro football game-- preseason or otherwise. And I do mean THE worst I've ever seen.

He got sacked a bunch (as any QB would) but he never had it picked, and more than half the time he was able to evade pressure efficiently better than any Chiefs QB since Gannon.

So to answer your question, I'd prefer Stanzi take snaps against that murderous schedule than any other QB we have on our roster.

100% absolutely THIS.

There can be no better teacher than a players own mistakes.

Best case scenario would be for him to go out and throw a bunch of touchdowns, but also a bunch of picks. Make a bunch of ROOKIE MISTAKES in his rookie year, not in his second year.

That would give Zorn and company a lot of material to break down on him and what they need to do to put him in a better position to succeed/improve.

There is only so much you can learn from not being in games.

That's assuming the coaching staff lets him take the reins next year after he makes all those rookie mistakes. I'm not sure that would happen.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
