KC/NE: Chiefs weren't bad (and, no, I'm not reeruned)

I know it looked bad on TV. And on the scoreboard. But from inside the stadium it looked different. The Chiefs D did a good job pressuring the Pats in the first half. They had two blown plays against Gronk and he made them pay. On offense, Palko looked much better than Cassel; considering the circumstances (thrown into starting @ NE on MNF) he looked decent. He had two tipped-ball INTs that could've been caught, and one Casselish INT in the EZ. I said the Chiefs had to play perfect, which they didn't, but the story of this game was basically two passes to Gronk, a PR by Edelman, and two tipped INTs.

Yep, because Palko understood the needed tempo. Cassel doesn't.

BS. BS. BS. Cassel has been allowed to be the starter for nearly 3 years after repeatedly proving he doesn't deserve it. That's not just "support" that's BABYING. They done everything they can to help Cassel, he's just a lost cause.
Cassel can't force the coaches to get the playcall into him any quicker. How many times have we seen Cassel yelling to the sidelines about getting the freaking playcall?

Cassel has looked like a legitamite NFL QB in two of the four years he has started. In New England he had McDaniels....looked good. First year starting, went 10-5.

Then, he had Gailey, then Haley his first year in KC.... sucked.

Then, he got Weis. Offensive player of the month, pro bowl selection.

Then, he gets Muir, which is just Haley as OC again..... sucks.

Do you see a pattern? Look, I am not saying the guy is great, but he is much better than Palko and a decent starting QB when you give him a decent coordinator.

I was at the Minnesota game. I watched him come off the field. I watched Haley TRY to pat him on the back and give him some coaching after Cassel went full reerun and grounded a screen pass. I watched Cassel throw a hissy fit for NO REASON.

The reason Cassel is yelling at the sidelines is because he's a baby.

We saw the sideline cams last night. We saw the discussions in the headsets. We saw Haley's mouth moving. We saw Muir talking. We saw Zorn in Haley's ear several times. The only moving part that was significantly different - the QB.

I see a pattern - a pattern of excuses. Cassel is a serviceable QB when you protect him with playcalling, nothing more.

Pats are middle of the pack in points allowed, the only stat that matters. The Chiefs piled up lots of yards, just like everyone does. But when you say "3 points on the worst D in football", you're mixing stats -- points versus yards.

Palko doesn't look much like an NFL QB, I will say that.

Here is the thing.... I would love to get a franchise QB. I don't think Cassel is all world, but he is much better than Tyler Freaking Palko.

And, the fact that people are trying to extrapolate last nights performance against the last defense in the league that was further injured into some sort of a comparison is ridiculous.

Cassel has proven he is a capable starter in two years on two different teams. The one constant is that he had a decent OC.

Again, not all world... not beyond upgrade, but a decent starting QB.

The people who think that Palko is an upgrade are blinded by their hate for Cassel.

Here is the thing.... the Pats have the worst defense in the league by yardage. They are average in points allowed. But, they also had additional injuries int he secondary.

Palko was given a very soft defense to start against. I don't know that the Chiefs would have won with Cassel, but they would have put up more points.

He is better than Tyler Palko. Already said that.

How many injuries in the front 7? How many sacks did they have coming into the game? How many did they have last night?

The QB didn't hold onto the ball for 4 seconds every play and ended up not having to run for his life every other down. SHOCKER.

I never said Palko was an upgrade. The only thing Palko did was further prove the point that this team is going nowhere without a REAL QB.

cassel is a piece of shit who averages less than 200 yards passing a game because he's so reeruned you have to run an offense for reeruns

wipe the shit out of your eyes...our passing attack is worst in the league since he arrived....he is terrible

In his "good" year last year with Genious Charlie Weis, he averaged 6.9 yards per attempt.

2009 it was 5.9 and this year it was 6.4.

For his career, he's averaged 6.6 yards per attempt - which puts him into a group with Drew Bledsoe, Byron Leftwich, Quincy Carter, JP Losman, and Archie Manning.

Honestly, take a look at this:

http://www.pro-football-reference.co...att_career.htm

It's pretty sad really.

That is an interesting list.

The cutoff for "barely adequate" seems to be around 6.8.

Trent Green at an impressive 19th.

Look at the Super Bowl QBs. You won't find many below 7.0 that I saw...

EDIT: I see a few Super Bowl losers (runners-up) below 7.0 but a quick scan down to about 6.5 didn't find me any SB winners. Also, look at how many CURRENT QBs are at the top of that list - it's pretty painfully obvious how the game has changed and we haven't changed with it...

And our impressively overrated GM is going to bring Cassel back next year as the uncontested starter. You know, and I know it.
