***OFFICIAL head coaching search thread***

So who are we going to bring in to replace Haley?

Who do you like? Do you want experienced candidates? Someone fresh and young?

Potential candidates:

Jeff Fisher
Kirk Ferentz
Josh McDaniels
Marty Schottenheimer
Mike Zimmer
Andy Reid
Jay Gruden
Rick Dennison
Todd Bowles
Rob Ryan
Dom Capers
Brian Billick
Jon Gruden
Pepper Johnson
Kevin Gilbride

NEWS

Nick Wright: Pioli believes McDaniels isn't a viable option, and Fisher is but won't offer Jeff big bucks is the bad news

Ugh. Nevermind then. I want a head coach that takes the QB position seriously, would install an attacking, balanced offense and an attacking defense. Who fits the bill?

Bring in McKid as HC and Coyer as DC then start Orton at QB. When you guys are done with our sloppy seconds you can do our dishes.

4) Haley will delegate offensive gameplanning to Zorn and his QB. However, he will still have a hand in the process.

What everyone fails to realize, imo, is that Haley is doing his job as head coach. Yes, he makes questionable game management decisions, but this is a skill he can develop over time.
A head coaches job is to provide motivation, provide oversight over the program, and take the heat for everyone in the organization. He is, in my opinion, effectively accomplishing these objectives.
The offensive gameplanning is the responsibility of the offensive coordinator and Muir should pay for his ineptitude with his job. However, Haley and Zorn seem to get along very well and seem like-minded. Zorn will make an excellent OC/QB coach for Haley, imo.

I actually think some of these would be decent choices... I'd love to see us give Pat Fitzgerald a shot. I can't think of a YOUNG coach in college who has done more with less.

Jeez! Make me work at it....

Rob Chudzinski - AMAZING TEs coach who was also OC at Miami (Hurricanes not Dolphins) and Cleveland and now Panthers

Winston Moss - Green Bay assistant head coach/inside linebackers talked about a lot but very unproven

Perry Fewell - DC of the Giants, interim head coach of the Bills at one point... also talked about a lot... I'm not sold on him at this point... but he is definitely someone to be considered

Dirk Koetter - OC of the Jags. Former head coach at Boise St and Arizona St. He has done really well in Jacksonville given what he has had to work with.

Pat Fitzgerald - Head coach at Northwestern. YOUNG (37) Routinely gets great production out of some of the WORST recruiting classes in the Big 10 (not his fault.. NW has very high academic standards and is in Chicago.. who the hell would want to go there.. it's a good school but you couldn't have PAID me to go there) His teams out perform their talent level and he has put a number of players into the NFL.

I wonder what the chances are that Ken Wisenhunt gets the axe in Arizona?

"Pound that rock!" /Chuckie

Though we couldn't afford him, that's my pick. With Norv as OC, and Zorn as the QB coach. Crenell keeps his job. **** the cap! Lay it down with management!

Chudzinski and maybe Moss.

Fewell no thanks.

Koetter sucked at ASU

Fitzgerald I don't think his team is even bowl eligible.

How about Todd Haley. But it will probably be Pioli's other boy McDaniels(If Haley does get the axe).

But you know what, if McDaniels can do with Orton here like he did in Denver, our offense would be legit. Especially considering he has a lot more here to work with on offense.
