RUMOR: Cowher to Chargers?

This is a rumor that I heard on the radio (XX1090) this morning. Supposedly this rumor has some merit. The key points that I picked up on:

1. Cowher is interested in the taking over the Chargers as long as AJ Smith is fired along with Turner.

2. He wants full control and wants to bring in his own personnel men (obviously, right?)

3. He wants to go to SD because they have a legit QB, something other teams that made him offers didn't have.

4. Apparently he liked Rivers coming out of the draft more than Ruthlessraper.

Basically, Rivers is a huge draw for Cowher.

He drafted Cromartie who has talent but just doesnt apply himself, Cason is a starting CB for the too. Other players who have contributed are English, Vasquez, Mathews, Butler...

IMHO he's by far the best GM in the AFCW when it comes to drafting talent.
Not even close.

The reason SD is where they are now is because he hasn't drafted any difference makers in the last 4 or 5 years and the ones he had before are old and run down.

IMO as much shit as he got for some of it, the Raiders have drafted really well the last few.

Or, Norv Turner just sucks? True, he hasn't scored big like in 2004-5 but still, he's done a pretty good job.

The faiders have sucked bad and have been drafting way higher. Hell, even a blind squirrel finds and nut once in a while.

I disagree with pretty much all of this.

Are you kidding me? AJ's drafts post Marty Era have been ****ing terrible. I would argue that they have been the worst in the AFCW.

BUSTer Davis.....1st rnd draft pick

Larry English....Another Bust of a 1st Rnd Draft pick

Ryan Mathews.....Shaping up to be ANOTHER 1st rnd bust.

Even Guys like Eric Weddle have been underachievers.

The guy has done nothing in the last 3-4 years, and it's finally caught up to the team.

Actually, you just don't know what you're talking about.

Where do I begin?

Naana is a dumb ass. He was barely even a role player. He hasn't done anything to even be worth a mention.

Weddle is HIGHLY over rated & Overpaid. His contract left everyone scratching their heads and saying "WTF". He is nothing special.

Cason has been beaten like a drum. They Benched him this year in favor of a rookie (whom they reached for, btw) 'nuff said.

And just because other players have contributed means nothing. Playing time does not = good. Not sure why you even tried to make that correlation.

People here in SD are calling for AJ's head ala KC vs Peterson.

There is a reason for that.....

I'm giving Ryan Mathews one more year before I declare him a bust, and Eric Weddle is better than you make him out to be, but you are pretty spot on with everything else.

Rivers isn't a franchise QB. He's Dan Marion-lite.

To be fair, I've always thought this of him. I've never thought he was a franchise QB and took quite a bit of heat for that opinion over the years...
