Josh McDaniels

After last night's game, only a moron would hire this guy to do anything. Those goal line calls against the Seahawks were absolutely stupid. Let's hope the Chiefs brass saw it and learned all they need to know.

I don't recall what the mood of the masses was back then... I don't believe message boards and forums were much to brag about back in 1994/1995.

Personally, with the history that he had with Denver and coming fresh off the heels of being the OC in SF when they own the title... and having just experienced Wade Phillips as a HC - I was estatic. Honestly, I was very happy.

I know where you're going with the comparison, but McD falls quite a bit short.

You have 1st & goal from the 1 yard line. You have Steven Jackson. You end up with a 30 yard field goal. You have yourself a shit offensive coordinator.

Scott was clearly at unease during the conference. He was confused and less prepared than before. He even made a mistake and quickly recovered when he said "after yesterday's...short pause"..then moved on to something else when asked about the final straw.

I think they saw something yesterday that they did not like. It's not the blowout loss because we've been getting gashed all three years like that. It could have been, but I doubt it.

I think it was how Haley conducted himself. That might have been a red flag for image conscious Clark Hunt. Therefore, an idiot who cheated and exposed himself, such as McDouche, will not come here as a head coach.

Wow, I wish I hadn't listened to this Farrar guy from Yahoo Sports.

He basically didn't have a SINGLE good thing to say about McDaniels.

This Farrar guy just said he ISN'T good with QBs. He's just good at masking the deficiencies of guys that fit his system.

He then went on to say that McDaniels' offense is noodle arm friendly and he really can't work with guys that have REAL talent.

He hasn't shown that he's good with QB's in St. Louis, Bradford all of a sudden a disaster under his tutelage.

No offense Mr. Reerun, but

That's what people said about Alex Smith also, and Bradford will be head and shoulders better than him.

That is my prediction.
My theory is that Romeo HC, and Josh 2.0 will be OC next year. NOW it wont be Cassel back, I think Stanzi is a guy Pioli picked to become a Tom Brady esk player. I think he wants to duplicate what he did in NE thus drafting a guy late round that fits the same mold that Brady has. I kind of want to believe this for Stanzi, not sure if it's going work out as this pans out.

I don't think Cassel will be back next year if Pioli knows what's good for him.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in a very dark place, having been outscored 89-10 in two games (including Sunday’s 48-3 thrashing by the Lions). They’ve lost arguably their best defensive and offensive players, safety Eric Berry and reportedly halfback Jamaal Charles, to season-ending knee injuries, in consecutive weeks. That surprising AFC West title from last season seems like it happened about 100 years ago. So what now? Naturally, coach Todd Haley is feeling his rear end burn (in a figurative sense only, I hope). While Haley on the hot seat will strike most fans as odd – he was a legitimate coach of the year candidate in 2010, his second season in K.C. – people who know what’s going on inside the organization are nodding their heads unremarkably. That there is a lot of tension between Haley and his boss, general manager Scott Pioli, is the worst kept secret in NFL circles. The fact that they get along like vegetarians and Gates Barbecue shouldn’t be enough to get Haley fired, but the combination of that and a season from hell could certainly do the trick. Haley’s deal is up after 2012, so the Chiefs have to do something at the end of the year – extend him, or get rid of him – unless they’re fans of the lame-duck thing, which always works sooooo well in the NFL (see: Fox, John, Carolina 2010). At this rate, I’m not loving Haley’s chances of survival. We know Pioli’s not going to take the fall himself, and unless owner Clark Hunt decides he wants to get rid of both of them (don’t hold your breath), Haley likely will be the one to go. That’s too bad, for a number of reasons: 1) I think Haley’s a very good coach, though he’s habitually dissed in the media, a sign (I suspect) that someone in his organization whose name rhymes with cannoli likes to go off the record with certain reporters. 2) That whole “he’s a lousy offensive coach without Charlie Weis” is a laughable load of crap. Weis, who left for the University of Florida after a single season as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator, was completely unenthused about the prospect of coaching Matt Cassel. Haley stepped in, took the lead and helped Cassel play at an alarmingly high level that resulted in a stunning Pro Bowl selection. Haley, by the way, was a pretty good offensive coach when he was Ken Whisenhunt’s coordinator in Arizona and the Cardinals nearly won the Super Bowl three seasons ago. 3) I believe that if Pioli fires Haley, he’ll try to hire his old New England colleague Josh McDaniels, he of the disastrous tenure as Broncos head coach that included dubious personnel moves too numerous to mention, a cheating scandal and five victories in his final 22 games. When McDaniels, currently the Rams’ offensive coordinator, becomes K.C.’s next head coach, count on two things: I’ll remind you that you heard it here first and you’re going to be treated to a real diatribe.

Whether I believe what he said or not has nothing to do with what he actually said.

The interview that I found most interesting was the one with Lombardi. I could not believe how supportive of McDaniels that Lombardi was.

See, McDaniels isn't my favorite hire, but I think it happens. And, I do think he is a better OC than Haley. That is why I didn't think Orton was better than Cassel. It isn't that I think Cassel is great. It is that I think Haley sucks.

Haley had a year and a half of success with an NFL MVP and the best WR in the league. Oh, and a pretty good offensive line.... and Edgerin James (albeit, past his prime).

So, while McDaniels and Cassel aren't my 'dream' duo. I do expect much better than the Chiefs offense has looked in 2009 or 2011.
