I don't buy into it because Clark Hunt doesn't believe in Cassel the same way Pioli does according to the guy I talk to that's given me solid info in the past. At the end of the day, if Clark has an opinion about a player, and the need to upgrade or change, it's going to happen regardless of Pioli's thoughts.

Take it with a grain of salt, but Clark trusts Pioli far more than he should, but he's very aware of the problems the team has and is involved in trying to fix them.

We can only hope. All signs have been pointing to more Cassel, hopefully they have been smoke.

I'm one who doesn't really mind Josh coming in as OC.

Matt Cassel will either be here or he won't. I do not think Josh coming in will make any difference in that situation. Personally I think he is here next year as our starter regardless; because of Pioli. If Cassel is here and starting, who better to send him plays than the only person that had him playing well?

I despise Cassel. But I have no decision in the call. So if Cassel is going to be here, may as well bring in Josh.
Denvers offense was pretty good with him, and we all know about NE. The Rams are just a terrible all around team with major injury problems and not much talent. Lombardi couldn't have coached them into a winning season this year. And for the drafting of Tebow.... Yes, josh was stupid for picking him in the first round, but maybe he had a plan for him that would've actually worked... we will never know.

Here Comes The Josh McDaniels And The Chiefs Talk Again
by Joel Thorman on Jan 6, 2012 8:28 AM CST

0 COMMENTS EMAIL PRINT

We wrote yesterday that the talk of Josh McDaniels going to the Kansas City Chiefs seems to have dried up. NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reported on Wednesday that McDaniels is not coming to KC in any capacity but now a report out of St. Louis says otherwise.

Inside a Q&A with other reporters, Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post Dispatch writes:

"A well-placed league source says both the Patriots and Chiefs have reached out to the Rams to seek permission to talk to McDaniels, but no word on if the Rams gave it."

The KC Star's Sam Mellinger previously reported that McDaniels has not and will not interview for the head coaching job. Offensive coordinator? Maybe, but that's a lateral move and the Rams would have to approve the discussions.

The Patriots lost Bill O'Brien, their offensive coordinator, to Penn State.

So let's think about this logically.

On the one hand, you have Lombardi, who has broken plenty of Chiefs news, saying this will not happen. He's been reliable in the past and he's clear in saying, "[H]e is not going to KC in any role."

On the other hand, you have a report out of St. Louis that calls McDaniels a "valuable commodity" and furthers the market for him by saying both the Chiefs and Patriots are interested and reaching out to him.

Hmm. Aren't coaching rumors fun?

Don't see why McDaniels = Cassel. Not at all.

Just because Cassel was the best option for the Patriots in 2008 does NOT mean, especially with a few extra years of seeing his work, that he is the best option for the Chiefs in 2012. Doesn't add up in the slightest.

There's also the grand courting of Cassel by McD and Pioli in 2009, with all the professions of eternal love and $$M's. But yeah, the enigma of what ANYONE sees in Cassel continues to confound.

Sure, in early 2009 Pioli thought Cassel was capable of becoming a solid NFL starting QB. He also thought McD was capable of being a solid NFL HC (as did Denver, obviously).

He's not locked into those positions forever. Data develops and impressions/opinions change. Just because he hired Haley in 2008 doesn't mean he's hiring him in 2012 also...

For the people who don't believe McD coming here doesn't necessarily correlate with Matt Cassel being the QB (although I completely disagree), lets say you're right and they're unrelated.

You should still be furious because he hasn't earned the job. 31st ranked O in St Louis. Sam Bradford actually looked promising until he got there.

It would reek of the good ole boy network.

Like it or not, he's coming here if Pioli wants him. He's already shown he can be successful with Brady under center, as have many other OCs. Where's the career advancement with doing it?

My biggest hope of not having to watch Cassel in a Chiefs uniform next year is I don't think RAC wants his final shot as a HC to be ruined by Cassel's ineptitude.

like your post.
i agree, if Romeo would have accepted Cassel as the starting QB, the coaching search would have ended and Romeo would be the guy.
but that didnt happen.

its all about Pioli's man crush on Cassel.
