Yates really didn t' do anyting tonight. They ran the ball and played defense and beat a shitty young team.

The td he threw to Johnson took forever to get there and the play before should have been a pick 6.

An offensive juggernaut under Yates they are not. I'd be shocked if, next week in Baltimore, the Texans get over 20. And in New England, even with the Patriots' weak D, I'd be surprised if they get over 30... and scoring 30 or less may not be enough.

Again, nothing against Houston, they have a lot of talent, but with Yates--and having to go on the road to Baltimore and then possibly New England--I don't see it happening for them this year.
1. I already gave you the INT.
2. There's blown coverages, then there's taking advantage of blown coverages. Must've missed where that best WR in the game is banned from the rest of the playoffs.
3. On that late TD, Foster's femur is bigger than the DB trying to tackle him, and that's why he powered past on the sidelines, not just 'giving up.' Again, must've missed where Foster is out for the season now.
4. I agree that Baltimore is capable of giving the offense fits. I disagree that the Pats are a foregone conclusion, be it high scoring or low scoring. More likely that NE's held by Texans' D to around 20, and it's up to the O to cobble together enough plays to overtake them. But NEs D is bad enough to make the Bengals efforts look like the '00 Ravens.

Yates and Dalton both sucked it up. Specifically Dalton though. He's not an NFL QB

Neither is Yates for that matter but they are rolling with him due to injury.

Fer****ssakes people, it's not like the Texans said "you know what I have a hunch that our rook QB will be awesome. Lets give him a whirl."

Eleventy-billion QBs ahead of him were ripped in half and thrown to a pack of wolves first.

Plus, as has been pointed out, it's not like he's actually been awesome. He took a team primed to vie for the 1 playoff seed to the WC and took advantage of several Bengals miscues while the D bore down HARD.

No, it was two years ago (January 2010). It was a Mongolian cluster**** of a day. First play, Ray Rice ran for a TD. Next series, IIRC Brady got sacked and fumbled near his end zone, and Baltimore easily scored again. Brady then threw a pick, Baltimore scored another TD and it was 21-0 halfway through the first quarter.

True enough and, if any team is going to blow coverages, it's New England. But there have been signs of hope (the return of S Patrick Chung, the use of oft-toasted CB Devin McCourty at S last week in an effective role).

Child, please. That wasn't Jim Brown vs. the Little Sisters Of The Poor. The Bengals were already beaten down and put on a pathetic tackling performance on that run.

I never said the Pats were a foregone conclusion, but I do think that, with the developments of the offense this season, I'm hoping it's less likely that we see another low-scoring stinker of a loss from them as we've seen against the Jets last year, the Ravens two years ago, and the Giants in the SB. Almost every rational Pats fan I know has the same approach: "Glad we got the homefield advantage, hope they actually play well, wouldn't be surprised if they blow out the opponent 45-17 but wouldn't be surprised if they lose 17-14".

But, I do think the D has been playing more bend-don't-break lately and aren't as bad as the numbers. Let's not forget, the Packers' D is just as bad, yet no one's counting them out on the other side of the league...

I'm not counting the Pack out b/c there isn't a Ravens or Texans in the NFC. There is a 49ers [who I actually do pick to go to the SB], but their O is one of the more reliably anemic in the playoffs, so there's always a chance of a slog game knocking them out.
