Playoff Fantasy Challenge

This is my first year. Has anyone done (and had success) in one of these?

In short, you pick 8 players (QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, DEF, K), standard scoring (not sure about PPR). If you pick a player on a team that wins, you get double points the next round. If they win again, you get triple points the next round. If you picked a guy in the first round and they make it to the super bowl, you get 4x points.

If a guy you pick gets knocked out, you can pick a new player, but the multiplying of points starts over.

Any good strategies? Would you spread your players around to different teams? Or would you essentially pick one team to ride all the way?

My best advice is tanking RBs and going with foster and say redman...but taking everyone else from your predicted super bowl winner and runner up.
I agree with the 2 team strategy. I had considered going Ray Rice on the AFC side but decided against it. The quadruple points in the Superbowl just overpower a lot. I took nearly all Saints with Sproles as a running back. Only 2 non-saints I took are Welker and Ridley. Really unsure on Ridley but the Pats have used him a lot the past few weeks and if he does make it all the way the quadruple points will really add up.

the problem is...the Saints were the easy pick

everyone did it...so you'll be competing with everyone

I went Packers/Patriots

hopefully it works out, win big or not at all, right?

Yeah, I know. If I was going to go totally crazy I'd have gone Broncos/Texans. I'm more looking for bragging rights with the person I was in the championship with in my fantasy league.

I still feel like people are missing out on the rules...

if people honestly think the Saints are going to go to the Super Bowl...they should have had all Saints and supplemented their team with whoever they figured would represent the AFC...

I went all Packers and Patriots...and if they both hit the Super Bowl I'll be getting 4X amplifier on Rodgers, Nelson, Welker, Gronkowski, Crosby and Packers DEF...

pretty sure that'll win me some leagues IF those two teams make the Super Bowl...

I mean, it's all fine and dandy that Calvin went for 33...that's huge...but if Jordy goes for 120 and a TD next week I get 36...in two weeks? I'd get 54...Super Bowl? 72

so if Jordy makes the Super Bowl and has a huge game he could get me 80 points...that's going to make that huge 33 from Calvin look like nothing.

people really screwed up picking Lions and mixing multiple teams on the NFL.com challenge...

who's to say nobody else did what you did? to think you're special because of the strategy you chose is asinine. Its a goddamn crap shoot with any fantasy league. Either you look like a genius or a complete dumb ass.

I read the rules and if an explanation helps here goes.

I started 4 Saints(Brees,Sproles,Graham,Kasay) easy maybe but I feel like they can represent the NFC in the SB and if so 4x with them is going to look great.

I started 2 Texans(Foster and the defense) both plays worked out great and call me crazy but I think their run game and defense could cause problems for the other AFC teams and although my longshot IF it hits it'll be great.

At receiver I missed,I took Julio Jones and Cruz knowing one would advance and yes Cruz although at a mere 2 points will stay in because I see a potential shoot-out with the Pack and wouldn't be surprised to see the G-Men win outright.Jones spot will be occupied by a Packer receiver just haven't decided which one.

Anyhow,my strategy IF there is such a thing in this game.I'm sure you'll find a reason to disagree with it but oh well.

Seems like people understand them just fine. Like you said yourself, everyone took Saints. Some people supplemented them with 1 AFC team (like you), and some spread it around to hedge their bets and go for individual performances making up the difference (even if NE goes to the Super Bowl, what are the chances Ridley does anything; 4 times 0 is still 0).

Having a different strategy is not the same as “not understanding”.

Any chance you go with Andre Johnson and put all your chips in the Houston basket? I took Jordy Nelson, and am sort of regretting the pick. And I thought Houston’s biggest hurdle was Cincinnati, now that is behind them.

I go with match ups if anything and whats wrong with picking Brees and then Going with either Brady or Rodgers the rest of the way? a good matchup is the Patriots the rest of the way IMO.

Just don't like Yates throwing the rock.I'm using the same "strategy" with a Packer receiver, either them or Cruz is going to advance.Really think Houston is going to give the Ravens all they can handle, just have my fingers crossed they make it to the Championship.

What was your roster by the way?
