The "Other" QB's

I've said in many threads already that I really want Trent Richardson in the 1st because I think he'll be the BPA at a position of need. I think he'll have more of a Tomlinson type career more than an AP career and actually give us 6+ years of great production. This is all assuming we don't trade up for Luck or RGIII of course.

With that said, we MUST take the top QB after that, whether that means trading back up into the bottom of the 1st, top of the second, or even just standing where we are at. So, IMO and from what I've gathered from others, here are our top prospects available.

Personally, I'm a big Lindley fan. Maybe it's a San Diego thing, whatever, call me a homer. But I love his arm, size and intangibles. IMO, the guy passes the Eye test and when you listen to him interview, he sounds like a mature, NFL ready QB. Being 6-4" 230 lbs sure is damn helpful as well.

Lindley:

Tannehill:

Foles (I find this video to be obnoxious):

Moore:

I would like Foles in the 2nd round and sitting him behind Orton or Cassel for a year and seeing what Zorn can do with him. I agree about the dropoff after Luck and RGIII, but there seems to be a lot of potential in these 2nd tier guys.

I see a problem though with a lot of teams around us reaching for these guys, so we would probably have to reach for one to get them, which I doubt Pioli would do.

Brees doesn't have the greatest arm strength either. He can get the ball where it needs to be.

I actually much prefer Stanzi to Foles. I'm just not a big Foles fan, I don't think his game translates well to the NFL.

I would gladly take a chance on Foles and the 2nd.

I don't know a ton about Foles, I was just basing it off of measureables. I would really be satisfied with anyone from Luck, RGIII, or any of these other 2nd tier guys.

I have/had hopes for Stanzi, I heard a lot about him pre draft, Kiper loved him, I like what extremely little I saw in the preseason from him. I thought we got a steal taking him in the 5th. I can't figure out why he never sniffed the field during this complete train wreck of a season from our QB's.

I have been thinking there must be something we're not seeing as far as his development. Maybe he's taking a little longer and he could still work out, I just tend to think that since he slid all the way to the 5th round, plus couldn't get on the field for us in a season where there is no excuse not to at least give him a look, that there is something they are still working on with him.

I'm sure I could search the thread and answer the question myself, but are you thinking we should stay pat at QB if we can't get Luck or RGIII?

Big guy with good measurables. I really question if he's got much above his shoulders though.

Mayock's top 3 quarterbacks for the 2012 draft: 1) Stanford's Andrew Luck 2) Baylor's Robert Griffin III 3) Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill.

Mayock: Tannehill is pretty entrenched as No. 3 QB in draft. Says Weeden, Foles, Osweiler, Cousins, Lindley competing for spots 4-5.

Agreed. Foles is no Stanzi. His production should be better though, he ran an Air Raid offense.

Early senior bowl practice report from Monday:

"Though its still early, Kellen Moore (QB/Boise State) does not look good. He shows no ability to put speed on his passes and his throws have consistently been behind receivers."

5. Ryan Lindley, QB, San Diego State, 6-4, 229, 5.10 (South). At one point during practice, Lindley had thrown almost as many passes into the turf as into his receivers' hands. He showed slight improvement later, but not enough to save the day. He looked like a slow-twitch athlete who was deliberate in his movement. He also had the worst arm strength among South QBs.
