Ganaway from Baylor?
seems like a late round Jacobs-type...

My favorites:
Vick Ballard Tauren Poole Terrance Ganaway All three would be excellent fits and will be available in rounds 4-7 (or UDFA).

My top value would be: David Wilson in the 2nd, if he lasts Doug Martin in the 3rd, if he lasts Ballard in the 4th Poole in the 5th Turbin in the 6th Bolden in UDFA If Wilson made it to our pick, I'd pull the trigger. But I'd see if I could hold off and wait to land Ballard or Poole in the midrounds. There's always security options like Turbin and Bolden in the late rounds if I can't land either. |

Not that I think we'd be interested in him at all so this is just more of an observation but I have a hard time seeing how LaMichael James is going to fit in an offense.
Essentially someone will pay a 1st round pick on a 3rd down/limit touches type of player. He's much closer to Dexter McCluster than Jamaal in terms of size. I'll admit I haven't seen a ton of these guys play. But in thinking we were in the running for RG3, I've seen a lot of Gannaway and like big guys with a little agility which I think he has. Wouldn't mind at all if the Chiefs picked him up mid to late as a power/goalline option. |

I'd LOVE Lamar Miller in the 3rd. Miller and Polk are the reasons why I'm not excited about taking Richardson in the 1st. Either of those guys are more than capable of giving us a strong 1/2 punch in the backfield.
Cyrus Gray would be what Dexter McCluster was supposed to be, except we wouldn't have to burn a 2nd round pick on him.

Question for you guys.
If and it s a big if, Peyton were to be healthy and come to Kc in free agency and we resign Bowe and Carr, would you be alright with taking Richardson in the first? |

If Richardson were to fall to 11, chances are he'd be the BPA in that pick. The only hesitation by everybody is that RBs have a short shelf life. But with Manning as your QB, you're thinking win now anyways. |

I know he had some big runs in that game, but he had absolute huge holes to run through. When things are tighter he doesn't look very impressive.

I'd prefer us not to, however. If Manning was on board, I'd change my mind. |

IMO, if Manning were aboard, that would put that much more emphasis on getting someone to protect him. He didn't take many sacks in Indy but he got hit a **** ton. The guy has had 3 neck surgeries in less than 2 years. Improving the OL would hit 2 birds with 1 stone. It would better protect your QB and open up bigger lanes for your RB to get through.
When Orton was in the game he didn't take as many sacks as Cassel, but that still didn't stop Richardson and Wiegmann from getting dominated. If we did get Manning, the running game would be much less important anyways. EDIT: In the end, I think its a moot point. I don't see the Chiefs opening up their wallet to Manning. There have been multiple teams linked to interest in Manning if he were to hit FA and the Chiefs aren't one of them. The Chiefs seem content on starting Cassel next year and further developing Stanzi/???. Last edited by jd1020; 01-27-2012 at 12:21 PM.. |

3 free agents I'd like us to target. Manning (if healthy) Soliai to play NT Grubbs to play LG. An oline of Albert,Grubbs,Hudson, Asamoah, M. Adams would be pretty solid, IMO. With Bowe, Breaston, Baldwin, Moeaki, Egnew, McCluster, Charles, Richardson, Joe Adams at skill positions could be pretty dynamic, and even scary with Manning with the controller. If we could do that on offense, bring in some defensive depth we could be good to go on d. I don't think he will, but if Burfict fell to the third and we nabbed him, a draft of Richardson, Mike Adams, Burfict in the first three rounds would be fantastic. |

I won't be mad if we don't, but if Richardson is there and we take him I will be ecstatic

Though at that point I almost think I'd prefer go with DeCastro, Reif or Martin. I'd want to make damn sure I protect Manning. Then I'd still look to Miler or Polk in the 2nd. Think about it - at that point you're not going to go gung-ho with the running game, so why use a 1st on a 1b RB? I'd rather go after another homerun hitter or at least use a lesser asset on my #2 runningback. Though ultimately I can definitely see the argument for going Richardson with #1 and Adams with #2, I just don't think that Adams is a sure bet to fall to the 2nd, nor do I think he's as likely to succeed as Martin or Riley.
