It is kind of cool, in fact, very cool, but I wouldn't want to live there either. You really get spoiled driving out there, knowing what you are approaching for quite a distance.

If they have three trees on the same acre, it is called a park. I kid, I kid, but the trees are all leaning North.

There's a spot on Hwy 35 between Hiawatha KS and St. Joe MO where you come to the top of a hill before heading downhill and back up and from the top of one hill to the point you can see at the top of the next is 3.5 miles. I reset my trip meter once because I always wondered. I think that's the longest I've seen in Kansas.

That'd be Hwy 36

3.5 miles you say? Not bad.
There’s a spot on 75 highway just outside of Altoona that I’ll test radar antennas from because I can sit on this certain hill and see for around 3.5 miles.
A good functioning antenna will start pick up targets as they’re rounding the corner at that 3.5 mile mark.
Always cracks me up to see people nail the brakes when they see me sitting on the side of the road, because by that time it’s way too late and I’ve been tracking their speed for a couple of miles already.

I don't recall being there, but I used to enjoy a lot of that small town cooking. It has been 20 years now, since I traveled Western Kansas every two weeks, selling autoparts wholesale.
