Is there a single better site for breaking sports news than CP?

I don't know how many times I've told someone about some "breaking" sports news and been asked where I got the info and when I tell them I'm a member of Chiefs Planet I get that look that says "why would you know that from a Chiefs site?" So of course I have to explain that this place is about much more than just the Chiefs.

Got me to wondering if you folks find any other single site so informative for news and/or breaking news on not only football stuff, but a lot of other sports news as well. ESPN.com isn't even as fast with little things that come from twitter and such... of course being a "respected sports news voice" (haha) I know they aren't going to do a story on a lot of things until there's really a story to write so....

With so many different people looking over so many different sites and sources I imagine it makes good sense that a bulletin board can be much faster at breaking things than the ESPN's of the world, however I've never been a member of another board so my experience is contained here.

Am I full of shit (on this I mean) or is CP THE go to source for news and breaking news for you as well?

Is this the biggest "team forum"? I haven't been to a lot of other NFL teams forums, but CP is pretty big.

At one time, there were only 2 or 3 sports-related forums that were busier in terms of posts:user ratio. One of them was like the official forum for NC Tarheel basketball...

You don't need to follow everybody because the people that you follow will retweet anything important they read elsewhere. If Schefter posts anything Broncos related it is retweeted at least 5 times by 5 different people on my timeline. News travels fast on twitter.

ha, I deleted the post so now it looks like you just asked that out of nowhere...

It is a scrolling news feed of different topic on Twitter... for example "Kansas City Chiefs" Manning, NFL could all be search terms and if anyone on twitter posts a tweet with those terms, it would scroll by in the feed

How about an upaid user just sharing................

Chiefs have formally requested Peyton's agent possible dates/times to visit Arrowhead to discuss the possibility of joining the Chiefs

I think that would be very cool, Mr. AustinChief. Plus, it would add qualitatively to the overall user experience here at good ol' ChiefsPlanet.

Not as good as allowing photos of bare niplets, but good, nonetheless.

I'd imagine it'd be pretty tough to evaluate that. By "big" do we mean the most users? The most posts? The most posts RECENTLY? The most active users?

We're clearly one of the bigger ones out there, but I'd be pretty surprised if we were actually THE biggest team forum out there.

There are several other team sites bigger in terms of all the above. It's tough to be everything for everyone so there are other Chiefs boards that are perfectly fine and fill certain niches in this market. You have homer sites, family sites, blog sites, prediction sites, and then thick skin sites like the Planet.

In the beginning, we were one of the biggest. We were a trend setter. Every time we'd change our forum structures, subforum names, rules, etc - other sites followed quickly behind. Now we've mostly plateaued mostly due to our sucky team. That's not to say a crappy team isn't good for traffic. We have more vent traffic after a tough loss than we do after an amazing win.
