It was a strange move. Alex went on first movement, and the pitcher hesitated his leg almost in mid air

He can step to an unoccupied base if a play is coming to it.

I was disgusted by the "there are a lot of teams with higher payrolls that are also sucking right now" rhetoric.

The only way to get out of this slump is to keep playing hard. But stay loose. One game at a time. Don't try to do too much. See the ball, hit the ball. Keep your head in the game. Realize it's a marathon, not a sprint. There's still plenty of time to turn things around. Guys have to step up. We have to pick each other up too. Play the game the way it's supposed to be played. Rome wasn't built in a day.... I mean... we just need a key hit. We need to get on a roll. Get some confidence back. It's as mental as it is physical. We need to play to our strengths. Get in a groove. Together we can. Our time.

He needs to stay within himself. Be patient at the plate. Look for his pitch. Don't try to do too much. See the ball, hit the ball. One hit at a time. String some things together.

Rule 8.05(c) Comment: Requires the pitcher, while touching his plate, to step directly toward a base before throwing to that base. If a pitcher turns or spins off of his free foot without actually stepping or if he turns his body and throws before stepping, it is a balk.
