I'm thinking Escobar now, though. Powder Blue this time.
I wouldn't be so hot on Escobar just because of a similar experience with a guy you may or may not remember. Rey Ordonez ring a bell? Dude could flash the leather like almost no one I have seen at short but couldn't hit worth a shit. His bat cost him a place in this league which sucked because defensively he was so good.

I own and have only ever owned one Royals jersey... Freddie Patek. It's hanging on my office wall because he autographed it. I do have a t-shirt autographed by Frank White up there too.

Escobar and Ordonez are hardly the same player my friend.

Why not? Do you see Escobar continuing to hit. I thought we were hoping he would hit .250?

ok, its done, money gone, I just ordered a powder blue Escobar jersey with an all-star patch. I'll hand down my trusty Royal Blue Butler jersey to someone else in my family.

I would pay good money for a Neifi Perez Royals jersey right now.

I think Escobar will continue to hit because he's learned how to. Will he be a dominate hitter? No. But for a full season pretty much now he's gotten clutch hits and most importantly been consistant. The game doesn't look to be too big for him. Escobar is the very least of my concerns.

What he brings on defense goes without saying.

Just saying if you remember Ordonez for the Mets is that he won 3 straight gold-gloves at short when he was 26-28. Had what many consider the best defensive season EVER by a shortstop. However, he just couldn't hit and finished with an avg around .250 or so. Just saying given Escobar's age, his amazing fielding, but supposed suspect bat that I saw some similarities.

Escobar has hit over 2 seasons now. Could he take a step back? Of course. I just don't think he will. It's not qualifiable but like I said, the game/stage doesn't seem too big for him. He's got a cool confidence and seems to get it.

He hit ok in Milwaukee before KC too. He'll be fine.

He would still have been starting for multiple years, but he got injured after his GGs, and never bounced back from it.

Well yea that is true too but his shit bat sure didn't help! I was a huge Ordonez fan growing up when I was playing baseball. Seems weird but he was my favorite player.
