Potential top pick Jarvis Jones enters NFL draft
Potential top pick Jarvis Jones enters NFL draft
Posted by Michael David Smith on January 4, 2013, 12:20 PM EST AP Jarvis Jones, a Georgia outside linebacker who is viewed as a potential first overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, has made his decision: He’s leaving school to go pro. That decision has been expected all year, as Jones has been discussed as one of the best pro prospects in college football. ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranks Jones as the best player at any position in this year’s draft. Jones has led the SEC in sacks in each of the last two seasons, and he also led the NCAA in forced fumbles in 2012. There may be questions, however, about whether he’s a consistent every-down player, and there could also be questions about his injury history: He started his college career at USC and transferred after the school’s doctors recommended that he quit football because of spinal stenosis. Georgia’s doctors have cleared him to play and he has had no further neck problems, but he did have ankle, groin and shoulder injuries that hampered him at times in 2012 and caused him to miss two games. If Jones is healthy, however, scouts may drool over his ability to get to the quarterback. With the Chiefs owning the first overall pick in the draft, Andy Reid could be coaching Jones in Kansas City next year. |

I want to draft Geno and then find some kid with the last name Wesson as a WR or draft a WR and make him change his last name to Wesson. BADASS duo right there.

Dude will be lucky to still be playing football after his rookie contract. I wouldn't be shocked to see him drop out of the top 20

I really cooled on Jones as the season progressed. He's just way too easy to neutralize by running right at him.

And his back issues aren't gonna go away...the combination of those two factors makes him a very risky pick high in the draft.

Then yeah, he's a better prospect than Jones as well.
Jarvis is a similar prospect to Coples and should probably go at around the same spot. I think Coples has more upside than Jones, but Jones has less of an attitude issue (though more of an injury risk).

Well I'll say this. If the Chiefs were to mess this up and somehow not draft QB #1, might as well be this guy.
Better that some other options I've heard. |
