We just need to load up with marquee games in the non-con. Our home schedule this year with CU and Temple was just dreadful. It's hard to get top-10 programs to come to Lawrence even when we do a home & home. I know Zenger thought we had Indiana committed to come in this year but they ended up not agreeing to it. Hopefully this changes and we get big games again.


I doubt Ohio State is up for more beatings.

The Big 10 was like the best conference preseason!

Indiana losing at home to Wisconsin is just a true testament to how deep the B10 is.

Think I read somewhere that KU has been an underdog something like 40 times in the last 15 years. That's just about 3 times per season. Since they play 35 games it would appear that KU is favored in over 90% of their games. Seems like the only interesting part about KU basketball any more, is the NCAA Tourney.

Winning regularly doesn't bore me. I follow literally no other teams that do, so I enjoy every conference season. For me, that's also the sign of real consistently/success of a program, not a team's record in a significant crapshoot like the NCAA tournament. It's also very interesting following the developmental curve of Self teams throughout a season. Watching them slowly reach their true potential by February/March is what college basketball is all about for KU fans.

I also should say that the B12 is generally one of the strongest conferences in college basketball (if not the strongest) and it routinely provides plenty of great conference matchups every year for KU. In recent history, Texas (with Durant), Missouri (the fantastic 2011-2012 team), Oklahoma (with Griffin), KSU (with Pullen/Clemente), and even Baylor have provided elite challenges and were real NC contenders. The fact that KU ended up beating those teams says more about how good Self's program is than any weakness in the conference.

Obviously this year is a down year for the B12 and there is no foreseeable threat to KU, but I doubt the conference will remain this weak for long.

Bo Ryan teams are boring and shitty. I can't remember the last Badger who could legitimately create his own shot. Jordan Taylor was close until he struggled HARD last year.

Boring, yes. Shitty, no. There's a reason they've made the tournament 11 consecutive times under him (and 14 times consecutively in total for the school, ranking only behind KU, Duke, and MSU).

Not really. The Big 10 is an unbelievable bball conference this year. Wisconsin would finish 2nd in the Big 12. Indiana is still very good. They may lose 8 games this yr and still be a great team.

This year isn't one of the most exciting seasons for KU thus far because like someone said the conference is down. Especially now that MU left and are still pretty good and we dont' get that great two games (at least). I still watch every game and such but the tournament seems the only time this year it will be truely exciting.

I've already admitted in the other college hoops thread that the B10 is the best conference in the country.

But, losing to a SHITTY Wisconsin team at home is a really bad loss.
