Yes. I'm watching the Grammys in 1974 and then I'm done.

I believe you'd get your ass kicked for watching something like that.

The music

I wasn't going to watch them, but heard some of the songs that sounded good. Black Keys, Mumford & Sons, Fun and some of the others offer a lot of hope for something that was going downhill - modern music.

I think we are finally seeing a recovery from a long period of utter crap, garbage and just generally rotten, vulgar shit.

I'm actually encouraged. And at age 61, that's saying something.

Pandora, Sirius and online radio saved music. An underground following for real rock music has been brewing for a long time. But the ****ers at Clear Channel have been neutering music for years. It used to be about DJs putting their own personal spin. Instead, you have corporations picking songs based on mass appeal and bombarding the market with it.

If you like Fun, you'll like Grouplove. If you like Black Keys, listen to the older stuff -- a much more hard, funky blues sound to it or try the Cold War Kids. If you like Mumford & Sons, try the Avett Brothers and Noah and the Whale. When people say modern music is crap... if you look hard enough, lots of good music that can match to a band you used to like in a previous era.

This is what turned me on the Black Keys.

The theme song from "Hung".

Watching ...

Bruno Mars with Sting gave me goosebumps. That whole number was fantastic stuff. Again, I have hope for the first time in many a year.

By the way, not sure where she's been, but if you ever get a chance to see K.T. Tunstell in concert, go. She's amazing live.

I loved the "Walking on the Moon" section, but they sorta boogered up the chorus. The drummer did a surprisingly good job with it.
