I don't dislike Smith as much as most of you obviously do. I've said several times that I expect to see two(2)(DOS) quarterbacks in KC better than anything we had on the roster last year. It makes a lot of sense to go get a solid vet and draft a rookie.

Trent Green wasn't very good in the W column before coming to KC either.

I'm putting some faith into the new GM and the new coach, because they've both proven they're pretty decent with the quarterback position. If they see something in Smith and don't pay too much...so be it. Let's see how it shakes out.

I'm all for taking a QB #1....however, if the talent scouts for this team determine that the top quarterbacks are David Carr-Ryan Leaf-Tim Couch-Jamarcus Russel-Akili Smith.........then by all means, do something different. Don't pick a guy just to pick a guy.

If nothing else, acquiring Smith before the draft gives them some flexibility to move around, acquire some picks and take some chances on players.........including a quarterback.

If it's PART of a plan and not "THE PLAN"....I'm giving this new group a year or two to win me over before breaking up with them.

he's got more tools for the QB position than TG did. Orton made this offense look capable, Smith is perhaps a bit better than Orton.

They need to draft a QB either way. But Smith might give them enough at the QB position this team could get going. They can groom the next guy and flip that switch when the time is right.

Im fine with Smith if we take Geno too. Good depth let Reid work with Geno while Smith starts

Alex Smith is a talented NFL QB. He's not a franchise QB. He's also not Matt Cassel.

If our plan is to trade for Smith and pretend that addresses the QB position then I think Reid and Dorsey are ****ing stupid.

if we trade for Smith and still take a QB early in the draft then I am inclined to at least give this regime a chance.

Green was a system QB every bit the way Smith is a system QB.

Smith was "lighting it up" in San Fran this year as well.

I think it's probably about the most fair comparison you could ever make. Trading for Alex Smith is basically what we did 10 years ago for Trent Green.

I really hope this doesn't happen but I can at least be realistic if it does.

I was actually looking up the #s to discredit Smith, but 70% comp. at 8 ypa is pretty damn good.

Alex Smith's numbers have been very good, since his shoulder surgery a couple of years ago sorted out an injury that never healed properly. Once that happened, and the franchise's disfunction was sorted out - he looked like someone who could lead a team to within 3 points of a Super Bowl - which he did LAST YEAR
